House Republicans introduce legislation to abolish D.C.'s local government

I am sure republicans would establish re-education camps, steal everything out of the museums, require papers to travel around dc, etc.

DC is majority white and the current regime isn't doing a good job

D.C. is not majority white. It is plurality white, but just barely — 46.2 percent white to 45 percent black.

Well, at least he won’t give you the middle finger like your current ANC does.

Yep he would not even take your call or he would arrest you for questioning republicans.

At this point we’d be happy if anyone got arrested in this pathetic town.

You know it’s bad when a refugee from Iraq in DC describes the city as a war zone:

DC currently has no functional govt and it is anarchy. Congress needs to step in to restore basic law and order.

I live and work in DC. This makes me laugh. Anarchy? Really. You must be living in a different DC than me. I feel perfectly safe going about my day in NE DC.

Not even President Biden was in favor of the extreme radicalism in the Council’s proposed revision of the criminal code.

Notice what’s going on in San Francisco? It is a result of the exact same sort of “criminal code revision” the DC Council tried to pass.

The current DC council is made up of extremists and radicals. You elected them.

Ready for change yet?!

Yes, we are ready for change. That's why we voted to change the criminal code.

They're not living in DC at all.

Anyone who says this kind of nonsense lives in the VA burbs and is terrified to even step foot in the city because Fox and Newsmax tell them it's "anarchy."

Of course they're also the kind of person that's so wracked with fear that they won't even go to their exurban strip mall without a deadly weapon so you can't really blame them - it's their brain chemistry that causes them to be so afraid all the time and they're too uneducated and full of male fragility to seek the therapy they desperately need.

What happened to the DC statehood bill?

This won’t go anywhere.

Let democracy run its course. The current Mayor and city council have demonstrated their incompetence and inadequacy time and time again. Voters have the opportunity to kick them out and install a new batch of leaders.

If voters keep the current crop of clowns in office, then voters live with the consequences. No need to abolish the government.

This is hilarious

And they'd actually do something about it

It sounds like you’re not living in the DC where we deal with this chaos daily. East to sit in a privileged perch and not worry about how crime affects the less fortunate.

I tend to agree. Yes, there are regular shootings, two blocks over from where I live - but most of that is not random - it's thugs who know each other. And again, it's something like 1% of the people who are responsible for 80% of the crime in DC. Yes, we need a police crackdown but it's not even remotely the chaotic war zone as the right wing makes it out to be. I sleep just fine at night and feel zero need to be like these insecure, scared little dipshits wrapped in their AR-15s, their dumb "tacticool" gear and "MOLON LABE" and Punisher stickers out in bumstuck red-county America do.
