Yada, yada, yada. Where was your outrage with Bill Barr when he did the exact same thing. Hypocrites.

Yep. It's a sham. You would think Garland would know the rules:

§ 600.3 Qualifications of the Special Counsel.

(a) An individual named as Special Counsel shall be a lawyer with a reputation for integrity and impartial decisionmaking, and with appropriate experience to ensure both that the investigation will be conducted ably, expeditiously and thoroughly, and that investigative and prosecutorial decisions will be supported by an informed understanding of the criminal law and Department of Justice policies. The Special Counsel shall be selected from outside the United States Government. Special Counsels shall agree that their responsibilities as Special Counsel shall take first precedence in their professional lives, and that it may be necessary to devote their full time to the investigation, depending on its complexity and the stage of the investigation.

Hmm, pray tell, what was Durham’s job right before he was appointed SC? And what other job did he have for the first 8 months of his SC tenure?

You can ask the same about Mueller.

Fact is.... Weiss is part of the DOJ. This is not a special counsel, but a DOJ investigation and it stinks to high heaven.

You didn't complain about Horowitz or Durham being DOJ employees. How is this any different?

Durham was retiring and giving up all other cases. Will Weiss?

The GOP House letter calling for a special counsel specifically asks for Weiss. Garland did so, and the right is STILL complaining, proving they will make EVERYTHING an issue.

Is this true? Can you post it? The GOP is such a set of hysterical nincompoops these days. Bring back the old GOP!!!!

Nevermind - it *is* true. I found it. How do these people sleep at night with their lies???

https://www.cornyn.senate.gov/news/cornyn-32-senate-republicans-call-for-hunter-biden-prosecutor-to-be-given-special-counsel-authority%EF%BF%BC/

LOL. Those damn GOP traitors and their supporters trip over their own damn lies and conspiracies. They have so many that they can’t keep them straight. They need a file cabin to store all their lies and conspiracies.

Durham remained as USA for Connecticut for 8 months after his appointment.

True, however in those 8 months he didnt work on any other cases and the retirement date is predetermined for pension. Weiss will remain in his position

Sure you’re right

2. This is a day late and a dollar short.
Statute of limitations is almost up. Stall tactic.

+1000 All they need is a good forensic account to put the dots together. But it might be too late to unravel all the transactions.

Ultimately, there were no transactions to Joe Biden. His income and reporting is fully accounted for, unless you believe he was committing tax fraud on the eve of his presidency.

Really? According to who?

According to his publicly available tax filings that go back several decades.

Um, maybe he didn’t report that income?

Maybe Clarence Thomas and Alito can opine about that. They both seem to know a lot about not reporting income and favors.

The difference is that Weiss is under a cloud of suspicion because not only did he allow the statute of limitations to expire on some of Hunter Biden's most egregious crimes, but he crafted a deal that would have given him blanket immunity.
A special counsel should be someone who is unassailable and truly independent. Weiss does not fit that bill.
Durham was not under any cloud of suspicion nor did he have any connections to the investigation he was conducting.
Garland is not a stupid person. This was a stupid move so we can only assume the fix is in.

This. Democrats are engaged in a massive cover-up.

Nope.

Okay Sherlock. Weiss fit the bill and then he didn’t fit the bill. So he fit the bill when it was convenient for the republicans and their hit jobs, but then when he was towing the republican to-do list line, Weiss no longer fit the bill. Got it.

And by the way, during my lifetime, the most corrupt, bias, bootleg special counsel was Ken Starr. Yet the right loved him and excused all of his prejudices and political biases. So miss me with the rewriting of what a special counsel should and should not be. Until the GOP start practicing what they preach and stop doing as I say and not as I do, IDGAF about Weiss.

He has demonstrated that he is not a good choice for this job.

The conflict of interest is strong here.
We have a member of Biden's DOJ investigating a member of Biden's family. Huge conflict.
That is why the GOP has been calling for a QUALIFIED special counsel for months. Once Biden became president, there was a huge conflict of interest.
That is why it needs to someone OUTSIDE the government.

Here’s the thing. Hunter has a very good chance of getting acquitted, particularly if Weiss tries to bring these tax charges as felonies. It seems to have flown under the radar, but in the same years that Hunter claimed inflated business expenses he also overstated his income. That’s going to make a great story for sloppy accounting instead of willful tax evasion. And the sole piece of evidence of the possibly unconstitutional guy charge is Hunters book. Pretty flimsy. I’m going to love seeing Comers head explode if Hunter gets acquitted.

Republicans requested Weiss by name and now you are whining. Hypocrites.

Comer doesn’t care if he’s acquitted. He just wants a trial and something to point to and talk about.

Have you forgotten that Weiss was a Trump person. Swoosh.

This is almost comical watching people fall over themselves to say that someone that Trump appointed and who was *asked for by name* by the GOP to be appointed social counsel is all of a sudden a lackey of the Biden administration and is now unqualified to do the job. Maybe, just maybe this guy knows a little more about the situation than you do.

Garland did exactly what the right has been clamoring for. So sit down.
