Our schools have sent out nothing-not a Navy family. You're not alone

It is odd. Oakton sent out an email saying they were waiting on some things, so would send out info this week sometime. Made it sound like a Gatehouse issue. Carson sent the info yesterday. Still waiting on Navy and I swear the dates used to be released much earlier than this.

Like other posters, I know to keep those dates open but I've got other kids and other schools to deal with, in addition to work. Blocking three days on my calendar for weeks, as a PP suggested, isn't helpful.

Our school has a new principal and got a welcome email with a calendar on the first day on contract.

+1 we should know the dates by now so we can plan last minute trips.

Oh come on now. You are just ridiculous. Unless you are dense, you should know to keep the Wed-Fri open before school starts. They do the open houses those days every year.

Are you always this b*&chy in real life too? Calling people dense is a bit much. Your responses sound very familiar.

The PP was talking about last minute vacations! Not work.

Yeah I’d just like to know times now as I want to schedule some last appointments for my kids. It’s really not too much to ask and they should know by now.

When do teachers go back? We will probably find out then but it's not a requirement to go. I think you can email and drop off supplies at a different time.

Teachers return August 14.

It doesn’t matter. No need to be rude. Maybe the PP doesn’t want to miss open house and wanted to take off on the Friday? It would be nice to know if open house is Thursday or Friday.

I am PP, yes I am keeping the week open but trying not to schedule important meetings and yes would be nice to know if its Thursday or Friday because I work in the office and would have to take the entire day off. I feel like we always knew these dates earlier, its odd!

Also I didn't mean to be dense, its just really hard to keep three days wide open on a calendar hoping you get some dates at some point in the near future. I really don't think its an unreasonable request but I should know better on this website! Geez!

Obviously you are a SAHM and don’t have to work.

First time principal mistake. Not communicating dates in a timely manner. We should know by now when open houses are for all grade levels.

Just checked our elementary school. New principal, too. No date yet.

Is it a first time principal or just a new one to the school but already was a principal?
Anonymous
Rookie mistake. I guess I will email him to ask.

I assume all Navy parents got the email yesterday and can calm down now? It’s exactly when most of us would have guessed it is. I’m glad it’s by last name and not grade so my kids aren’t on different days like last year.
