People were abused horribly in those facilities |
The goal is to get these people out of elite neighborhoods. Live your vote people. |
So you are also not against deportation, right? |
Wrong president. De-institutionalization began in the Kennedy administration. https://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/doi/10.1176/appi.ajp-rj.2021.160404 "psychiatrists cautioned that commitment to community models required mental health professionals to fully address the social problems—such as poor socialization and lack of housing, food, and clothing—that exacerbate mental illness in community settings." Homeless primarily due to mental illness, addiction, finances really should be served by 3 separate continuums. Any residential for each should be in or near the community from which the individual is from. And support services should be provided for example to an indvidual or family that can transition to independent housing. So improve the facilities, but don’t throw out the idea altogether. People are abused horribly in churches, shall we abolish them? |
Correct |
Need to have enough makers around to subsidize the takers. |
A disciple of Ayn Rand is posting on DCUM. |
Notice the meaningful distinction between churches, where attendance is voluntary, and mental institutions, where people are committed involuntarily. |

Sure, let's just shuttle "them" iff to some wayward destination with no jobs, no medical care and no opportunity. What you are describing was called a concentration camp, OP. |
No jobs? No opportunity? These people aren't capable of jobs and they don't have much opportunity in their lives already! |
I guess we should be grateful the OP is only recommending concentration camps, vs. death camps. |
Whatever “jobs” these people are doing (I am skeptical that that they are working) are equivalent to being a 7/11 gas attendant. In other words, jobs that exist EVERYWHERE. These people aren’t policy wonks who have jobs that are tied to DC FFS. |
