She could have been a media darling too if she had taken the high road. And yes, I know Clark trash talks and that wasn't covered.

She shouldn’t have to. Caitlin Clark is trash on the floor. But it’s excused, because she’s such a “fierce competitor”.

Angel Reese is not going to shuck and jive for y’all. People will always find a reason to find fault with her, and she knows it.

Reese is trash with a 1.8 GPA who’s floated from program to program. If y’all really think LSU has any class just remember how Kim Mulkey treated Griner.

There is no way you know this for sure. And many many kids in many many sports change schools.

Uh huh. Why do you think she was ineligible for the major POY awards?

She exemplifies the type of behavior that’s resulted in the WNBA getting so little attention over the years. Watching her play is about as gratifying as watching a couple of crazies get into a fight at Walmart on YouTube.

As a parent of a D1 athlete - there are more requirements than just grades. Community service is a big big common requirement.

Maryland wasn't too upset to have Angel leave from what I heard, despite her obvious basketball talent.
As a former college men's player, I actually like trash talking, getting in an opponent's head, and throwing them off their game in the context of the game. However, Reese's decision to do the taunting as the clock ran out when there was no gamesmanship left, wasn't a great look.
Doing the same thing with several minutes left after the momentum had shifted would have been pretty awesome in my book given what Clark has done previously.

Exactly - you can only assume she has a 1.8GPA (how weirdly specific of you) - she wouldn't be playing if she had a 1.8. Plus she wont graduate - she'll go pro.

Also, how could you get under a 2.0 with all the academic support they get? It is totally different in basketball and football from other D1 sports in the level of academic support at most major schools.

It is likely that she'll go pro as soon as she is eligible (2024).

This women's tournament has been a ratings bonanza and Angel is getting all the attention in the world right now. WNBA could use some more of this!

Doing the same thing with several minutes left after the momentum had shifted would have been pretty awesome in my book given what Clark has done previously.

It wasn't just about this basketball game at that point though.

Reese would be well served to cash in on the $225K or whatever the WNBA can toss her way now. She's probably not going to graduate from college, it's unlikely she'll pick up any major endorsements, and if her past is any guide she'll probably get arrested within a few years. And all the fake eyelashes and trash talking in the world won't help her much then.

There’s no way, after that display, that any reputable company would have her as a spokesperson or create something in her likeness.
all those media followers are likely pisssed off POC

This was a great women's tournament! Hopefully the game continues to grow so quickly. The lack of parity is still a major problem for early games though. That Clark and Reese talk and taunt shows they are just confident ballers. The timing (basically outside the game) was the only thing I didn't like about Reese's actions.

Why? Caitlin Clark also has done the John Cena (he even posted about her doing it) in the past. So what's the difference? People wouldn't be up all in arms if these were men, who trash talk like mad in both NCAA and NBA games. I've seen it, I've heard it. So what?

I got zero problem with women playing hard, aggressive, competitive, and in your face. Why not? That game last night was fantastic. LSU was fun to watch. I am a huge basketball fan. The only thing that was bad about the game was the inconsistent officiating. People need to unclench and actually understand competitive sports. Women don't need to say they're sorry or be demure or quiet.

I’m the PP who earlier in the thread said she embarrassed herself chasing after Clark, and even I think you’re delusional. This young woman is going to be a powerhouse in the WNBA.

Your comment about her being arrested, and being unable to graduate…wow.

Mmmmhmmmm. Tell us more...

Her presences on the court and on social media have made her a hot commodity for sponsors. Reese has one of the most impressive NIL — or name, image and likeness — portfolios among collegiate athletes in the U.S., and she posted sponsored content on her Instagram page for brands including Wingstop WING, +2.29%, Bose and Sonic during LSU’s March title pursuit.

Reese and other college players have been able to reap NIL profits since 2021, after a radical reconsideration of student-athletes’ ability to capitalize on their sporting exploits.

Reese, nicknamed “Bayou Barbie,” has 17 different NIL sponsors, which is the most among all men’s and women’s college basketball players, and it’s the fifth-most sponsors of any collegiate athlete, according to an NIL report by Sponsors United.

Reese also has sponsorship deals with brands including Coach, Amazon AMZN, -0.85%, Raising Cane’s and Banter by Piercing Pagoda. According to NIL tracking site On3, Reese makes about $392,000 from her endorsements per year — a figure that was calculated before she raised her profile in the title clash.

She already had plenty of deals, she just needs to raise their value now.
