I was thinking that it must be uncomfortable to wear fake eyelashes and have five feet of hair trailing behind you while you are playing basketball. I used to play and I couldn’t stand hair flipping around. |

Every metric including defense right? Stop it. It's about the preferential treatment she gets. She's never called out for her crap, and she has a lot of it. Same with Haley Van Lith. Same with Diana Taurasi. There is no undercurrent with them; just fierce competitors. Re: black female athletes. No, they really have not other than token pats on the head. Look at U.S. soccer, Anna Kournikova and Maria Sharapova, Diana Taurusi and Sue Bird. On and on. The athletes notice. |
| I hate that all the focus has been on weird hand gestures rather than the phenomenal level of play in the game. So ridiculous that people are spending so much time talking about Angel pointing at her finger. Caitlin Clark is also well known for taking trash. They’re there to play the game, not be best friends. |
Guess Angel didn’t get that message regarding the Iowa-South Carolina game.
|
Nobody said ignore her. They just want their flowers too and opportunities that follow. |
She should get preferential treatment. Are we not allowed to celebrate or give notoriety to anyone besides black people anymore? |
She's the best by scoring, that's the only metric. Volume scorers don't win in the mens game, they don't win in the NBA and the don't win in the womens game when the come up against a more complete team. And by the way, the media always celebrates the white player when they have the opportunity. |
Usually we celebrate the winner. Looking at the athletic now, she still dominates the coverage |
What rock do you live under? The media has celebrated black basketball players every day for 40 years! Are they not allowed at all to talk about a white player for a change? |
I'm the OP. The undercurrent here is that this situation reflects our society now. It doesn't matter what either player did, people are stacked on those sides base on skin color alone. |
Look at the current MVP race. Look at how desperate the media is for Luka to actually win. They celebrate the black players when they don't have a choice, but they are desperate to find the great white player |
If by "only" metric, you're intentionally ignoring assists, where she also led the country in two of the last three seasons. Do you people actually have any knowledge of the things you write? |
So this is EXACTLY Angel Reese’s point. Why can’t she wear eyelashes? Or the longest weave in creation? She still set the record for double-doubles this year. she doesn’t need to perform for you, or anyone else. Everything she does, you will find a way to insult her and call her classless, which we all know what that REALLY means. Also, considering the number of women transferring OUT of the Maryland program, it’s not Angel. Three of the four freshman have entered the transfer portal. |
Well, LSU created this totally unnecessary controversy. And they ruined what should have been a great day for women’s sports. |
