Do you even have a point? Guess what -; the people that do those jobs are often very Catholic and have traditional family values mindset. See what those kinds of people think about lbgtq issues, for example. Democrats are seeding their own demise and don't even realize it. |
No it isn't. Democrats want open borders. They might change their mind if Hispanics vote Democrats, the same way they block Cubans from coming in. |
And what about the more bat$hit crazy the Republicans get? I mean come off it. MTG and DJT are the leaders of the GOP right now. Cray cray. I consider myself a reasonable person. Everyone who knows me considers me a reasonable person. I would NEVER EVER in a million lifetimes join a party that accepted those two whackadoodles as leaders. Never mind Boebert and Matt Goetz and Paul Gosar. And the Christian nationalists who want to us to become a theocracy. And the closeted politicians and activists trying to take away marriage equality. Please, tell us how moderate Democrats are going to flock to a party that wants to make abortion illegal FROM CONCEPTION. And to force 10 year olds to go through pregnancy. And to force women to go to term with dying, deformed fetuses. No way moderates are going to say, hey, no biggie, and vote for that. Joe Biden is a moderate. If you think he is a raging leftist, you are far-right-leaning conservative. So you've exposed yourself. |
Ha, good luck attracting all those moderates with that position. Women matter. Say it with me. Women matter. |
Hey same for you and Republicans. Will you do that? Figure out why half of Americans despise the GOP? |
MTG and DJT totally have sway over what legislation gets introduced into congress. They can whip up all the party votes they need! The GOP is going to build Trump's wall tomorrow tomorrow! They're going to end the vote for women! They're going to make it illegal to be LGBTQ+! It's going to be the Taliban 2.0! Thats totally what the GOP donors want! And what the donors want is what the donors get! MAGA |
Joe Biden is indeed a moderate on some issues, but definitely not on all issues. |
This thing you keep harping on about the grip that Catholicism has on Hispanic/Latina populations is interesting because my immigrant ancestors were also quite pious Catholics and several generations later, no one in my family goes to church anymore. Same with many people I know whose ancestors were quite religious. Religion is slowly losing its grip on Americans. And when younger generations begin to assimilate in the US, they also lose the conservative, patriarchal traditions of their immigrant forefathers. American culture is a strong influence. |
Yes, the MAGA seems to be pulling strings right now, that is for certain. You are not making a good case for becoming Republican! Until you kick out the MAGA, no thanks. |
Wow! Are you sure you know which team is which? Let’s fast forward to the current day men who will finally return home to a more moderate space we call prison because they are insane and irrational criminals. If you don’t have the time to binge read, start from the last page and rewind one nefarious page at a time. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/751002.page |
+1 People in this thread are making a lot of perhaps bigoted assumptions about Latino immigrants in particular and Catholics in general. Catholics are about 50-50 on abortion. As for Latinos: “A common misconception is that because such a large proportion of the Latino population is Christian, Latinos are more likely to oppose abortion. Pollsters and strategists for both parties say that’s a myth for three reasons: Latinos aren’t as Christian as they once were, most Latinos don’t belong to Christian sects that advocate for political anti-abortion policies, and there are numerous factors beyond religion that shape Latino views on abortion. …a July PRRI study of Hispanic voters, which found that 66 percent of Hispanics overall support abortion in most or all cases and 72 percent of Hispanic Catholics opposed the overturning of Roe. Less than a third of Hispanic Catholics say their religious faith dictates their views on abortion, and only 13 percent say they look to religious leaders for guidance on how to think about abortion.” https://www.vox.com/platform/amp/the-highlight/23322487/abortion-latino-voters-roe-midterms-election https://www.prri.org/research/political-and-religious-activation-and-polarization-in-the-wake-of-the-roe-overturn/ “In an August Mi Familia Vota/UnidosUS poll of Latino eligible voters, respondents were asked whether they agreed with the statement, “No matter what my personal beliefs about abortion are, I think it is wrong to make abortion illegal and take that choice away from everyone else.” Among Catholics, 76 percent agreed, and 58 percent strongly. And even among Republicans, 55 percent agreed and a third strongly. For the first time ever, Latinos also ranked abortion as one of the top five issues facing the country — behind inflation and the rising cost of living, crime and gun violence, jobs and the economy, and health care.” https://unidosus.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/unidosus_mifamiliavota_nationalsurveyoflatinovoters_81022.pdf |
So you don't think people who are religious have compassion for others or are not accepting of LGBTQ people? Like do you even understand who Jesus Christ was? |
I have faith (not in a religious sense, but in a deeply cynical political sense) the the Republican strategy of appealing to rural voters, and therefore taking advantage in the advantage granted to the least populous states in the Senate, will continue to pay huge dividends under the American political system. Either party needs both houses and the presidency to effectively legislate “wants.” You only need one house to say “no” to the other party. So the Rs just bide their time and take their shots when they can. And they’re patient. They’ve been playing this game a long time. |
I'm pointing out that the crazies have zero effect on policy. DJT and MTG are a show for the rubes. And the same people fund both parties. The whole GOP/dem conflict is just a show. |
