| I don't know about "ugliest", but Dartmouth is pretty much a hot mess, aside from the Green. |
+1 very depressing, sad. |

Really? I’m feeling a little sad it was torn down. I loved that place and lived there as a freshman in 1987-1988. |
The library was my favorite UCSD building lol.

This is ridiculous. I was heavily recruited for athletics by most ACC schools. On my Maryland visit, which had a great athletic program, the coaches knew I was going to visit Duke (along with UNC and UVA) the next week. They warned me not to be impressed by the beauty of Duke's campus, or the forested trails in Duke Forest about a third of the size of Fairfax County. Duke Gardens is absurdly beautiful, and one can throw a baseball from the Allen Building (the admin center) to the Gardens. There's a lot to both dislike and like about Duke, one of the most contradictory schools in the nation with one of the most fascinating histories in existence (and not all positive either) but the Duke campus is beautiful. I actually did not find the Gothic west campus all that appealing as it was dark in a sense (I ended up matriculating there), but East Campus had a laid back Georgian vibe that was pleasant. The City of Durham is not something to write home about, but then again, neither is College Park. The best college town I have been in is Ann Arbor - just so much to do and a national power academically. |
That is what my kid said! |
No, Dartmouth is generally ranked as one of the most attractive campuses in the country. Saying "aside from the Green" is kind of silly since virtually all the academic and administrative buildings are visible from the Green, but the streets away from the Green have views of the Green Mountains or Occom Pond and most of the handful of drab 60's buildings have been replaced in recent years. If you seriously believe Dartmouth is 'one of the ugliest college campuses in the country" you obviously have some kind of issues - but DCUM so no surprise. |
| Ithaca college is hideous |
Agree. Garbage list. And then to further insult.. Similar to many other campuses on our list, College Park is a brick wonderland. Its unfortunate Georgian aesthetic choice is the main reason this school gets on the list. With its cold, rigid architecture and need for high security, College Park leaves a lot to be desired.
What "high security" is there? The campus police? |
| I would nominate U. Nebraska, Lincoln. |
Different poster. Visited the campus a couple of years ago. Location and campus vibe combined was very not appealing. |
| UGA is ugly |
| Fordham |
Yes. My kid is now a sophomore at UCSD. I walked around feeling nostalgic in June just before it got demolished to make way for new housing. |
