Your body is a living piece of art.

Gimme a break.

People have been using ink and body modification for literally centuries to transform their bodies into pieces of art.

I mean, many kings and queens had them.

Heck, even King Edward VII had a cross tattooed on him

I don't have tattoos, but I personally appreciate visible tattoos. They can convey a lot about a person. It's a way of managing expectations without even having a conversation.

Generally trashy unless you have the overall asthetic to pull it off, which most people do not. Common.

25% victims of abuse, 50% attention seekers, 25% creatives/non-mainstream types who I can deal with.

I dare you to tell that to all of the members of the military with ink!

Members of the military are by definition not classy.

Yikes. Even the service academy grads gunning for Rhodes Scholarships and eventual higher office?

I think most people get tattoos because they feel like they're lacking in some quality, and they want to change how others perceive them. Or they got drunk on their 18th birthday, and their friends, who were not actually friends, talked them into it.

. . . .that resembles a tacky T-shirt design from "Hot Topic" or (for the old---"Spencer's Gifts"). Though, to be honest, I prefer these vs. the random scattered ones (thinking of the Miley Cyrus video I just saw) that look like the person got attacked by a 5 year old with a sticker book . . . .

LMAO the "5 year old with a sticker book" has me cracking up because that is exactly what it looks like sometimes.

They are trashy on impulsive people. On rare occasions you run into a work of art but honestly they fall out of style like old movie posters. Never saw a 10 year old tattoo continue to impress people.

DH has them and I like them on him. He’s worked hard to get where he is but comes from humble beginnings. It’s “I’m still Jenny from the block” vibes

You guys are crazy if you can't see the difference between the person that walks into a shop and gets flash (which, btw, there's nothing wrong with)

vs

the person that spends months finding the right artists, waits 4-6 months to get their appointment, travels sometimes hundreds of miles, and will spend in excess of 1,000 dollars to get a their custom piece.

It is absolutely no way impulsive.

Hell, the best shops dont even take walk-ins.

This is like asking the question, what do you guys think of red meat, and everyone acting like the only option is a McDonald's hamburger

You can't deal with victims of abuse?

It looks trashy. Sorry.

Tattoos = the same level of tackiness as wearing tap out clothing, ed Hardy tshirts or a von dutch hat.

The only ones who can pull it off are gang members, rock band members, or military. Most people getting tats watch cat videos and spend time surfing reddit rather than living in a van and touring the country as a punk rock band making $23 per show.
