Carjackings just will.not.stop. MoCo council is out of control.

I always follow what goes on in Takoma Park because it exposes the true hypocrisy of Montgomery County government, because it’s where the county politicians and their supporters live. And what we see now is that they are going tough on crime in their neighborhood while preventing that same tough on crime policing throughout the rest of the county. This is how you know that these people don’t believe their own b.s. And it’s the same about everything.

Does anyone know if this is a real rule?

No, this is nonsense. Recently there was a carjacking in Arlington. Arlington PD pursued into DC. Perpetrators crashed vehicle in DC. APD chased them on foot, made arrests. They are sitting in jail.

It is probably MCPD policy. PGPD also recently chased carjackers into DC and made an arrest. MCPD don’t seem willing. It was posted up thread that MCPD will for a “violent felony” but no one should hold their breath.

When the middle class is strong, and the lower class knows they can get a great education and move up in status, hope is present, and drugs and violence decrease.

We need a wealth tax, we need giant corporations with record profits and share buybacks to pay their fair share in taxes (in some cases, they haven't paid ANY taxes), and we need to support those who need help, so they can move up, and out of the lower class

Due to your policies there are hardly any new corporations to tax in Moco! You have had zero job growth in past 30 years.

Same thing on Thrive.

As they sit in their historically protected Takoma Park. Or their million dollar house in Ashton.

It seems more ineffective than tough. From the Takoma PD Chief:

"Long-term, we must take a holistic approach to addressing the causes of criminal activity. Until we address these underlying issues, lack of education, food security, jobs, etc., the cycle of crime and violence will continue. The police alone cannot solve the problem. We look forward to the City implementing some of the recommendations made by the Takoma Park Reimaging Public Safety Task Force that help address these issues and continuing to look for ways to address the root causes of criminal behavior."

How is addressing poverty in Takoma Park MD going to do anything to prevent crime from DC juveniles? What is needed are increased legislated sentencing guidelines. Unfortunately, DCPD has a policy of minimal cooperation with surrounding jurisdictions, including Montgomery County and Takoma Park Police Departments.

Conveniently don’t mention where the chief says that they are increasing patrols, making more arrests and asking neighbors to aggressively report anything suspicious. He just throws that nonsense at the end to appease liberal sensibilities.

You are full of BS. I bet you can’t cite even one single source showing how council members have stopped police from doing their job. The council didn’t pass any regulations against the police whatsoever.

Are you not capable of reading? You even bolded the text. It says, “it’s where the county politicians and their supporters live”. Who is the County Executive and where does he live?

DP. You don’t seem well versed in Montgomery County politics. Elrich lives in Takoma Park. Kate Stewart is the former mayor of Takoma Park. Before Stewart, there was Reimer, Hucker and Leventhal. Add to that Peter Franchot and Tom Perez. No one has won County Executive in over 15 years without winning Takoma Park in the primary. The base of county politics is Takoma Park.

To be fair, the messaging might be different now with a new mayor.

Not that poster but Riemer and Hucker both lived in Takoma Park. And they along with Elrich caused plenty of damage to how police can actually prevent crime. They just left two months ago. But created major damage in the last four years on Council. jawando was a ring leader and he was in Silver Spring til I guess the crime got too much and he moved to Ashton
