The whole point is to decrease the possibility that people with existing warrants, ie already committed a crime, have interactions with police so that they can be caught and held accountable for their criminal conduct.

For real? Is the rep that "VA don't play" still true? Hopefully somewhere in the DMV there is a will to have people with existing warrants be arrested.

Watch as this do gooder initiative morphs into a privately run company who will enforce traffic laws. Tickets and enforcements will explode and tons of residents will get slammed with all sorts of fines for any kind of perceived minor infraction, because a private company will be for profit..

But hey, at least the police aren't involved, amirite?

This seems to be a huge problem. At a Safe Silver Spring meeting the other night, the Commander was asked how they work with DC police on these issues, and he basically said they don't. Well he said something about sometimes using their helicopter... We live a mile from the DC border and this really irritates me. I have to put up with carjackings and whatever else because the criminals can just pop over the DC line and that's the end of it?

This is what happens when people have no hope. The middle class has been greatly squeezesd, and the lower class has no hope to move up. So, drugs and violence continue to grow.

When the middle class is strong, and the lower class knows they can get a great education and move up in status, hope is present, and drugs and violence decrease.

We need a wealth tax, we need giant corporations with record profits and share buybacks to pay their fair share in taxes (in some cases, they haven't paid ANY taxes), and we need to support those who need help, so they can move up, and out of the lower class

Maryland passed a law that anyone under 18 can't be questioned by police unless they have first consulted an attorney. A higher bar than just being advised of the right to an attorney. It is effectively blocking a lot of police investigations of carjackings, among other crimes.
