MCPS leadership gives pathetic response to bathroom safety concerns raised by parents

My oldest is starting WJ this fall. These reports terrify me, as they do every parent posting here. Rather than arguing and pointing fingers on an anonymous board, I suggest talking to other parents in your child’s school. Get organized, get informed and do what you can to find workable solutions with the school. 6 pages and no high school teachers have weighed in. I am sure they have thoughts and I, for one, would like to hear them.
And finally, we need to talk with our kids. About what is happening, how they should handle themselves and what to do in uncomfortable or unsafe situations. This is our job as their parents and particularly important as they are becoming more self sufficient.
At the end of the day, we all want the same thing…safe schools. Fighting on dcum does nothing to get us there.

My teen is a senior at WJ, and frankly hasn't noticed bathroom goings-on. Maybe that's the one silver lining of WJ being so gosh darned crowded, there are always too many witnesses around!

Thank you for this! I am the poster you replied to. The overcrowding has been on my mind too, but you’re right that this may be a silver lining to it! Thanks again!
