Ozempic and Wegovy are brand names for the exact same drug called semaglutide. One is marketed/approved for diabetes and one is marketed/approved for weight loss. |
I opened this thread because one of my loved ones is on this drug. Most of us seem to be responding to the first comment: "The number of people who are absolutely furious that semiglutide works well for weight control and so who desperately want to believe made-up negative stories about it is truly staggering." And like, no, we aren't furious or jealous or whatever. I am not sure why so many overweight people need to tell themselves this. |
Many people definitely ARE angry about it. The fat hate on this board is staggering. |
Well, you might not be, but some people definitely are. I've seen and heard the discussion personally, in person and online. If the original comment doesn't apply to you then why are you upset about it? |
Do you know if the trails include only the lower dose that diabetics take or was the higher dose used for weight loss also included? |
Bullshit. I use scissors to cut stuff instead of clawing it apart. |
The number of people I know in the suburbs who've had one of the weight loss surgeries would shock everyone. People confide in me. No one openly admits it. One of my neighbors did it and is the worst for fat shaming people. |
Diabetics take up to 2.0 mg, not that different from 2.4 mg of Wegovy. |
+100 |
A lot of people take much less than 2.0 mg for weight loss. |
Well sure, but I assume that PP was getting at the higher dose for weight loss being more likely to cause thyroid cancer, I guess, but it’s irrelevant since the max doses are close. The truth is semaglutide at any dose has not shown to cause medullary thyroid cancer in humans. |
Idk. You seem pretty mad to me and I’m not the PP nor am I on the drug. Sorry, but that’s how you come across. |
It also includes the higher doses. If this was causing widespread thyroid cancer, we should have seen it by now. |
+1 Look how many of them are desperate to believe something from People magazine of all places that is obviously not true. It is a bit crazy to me. |
Bingo bullseye, right on the money! |
