Private Schools that feed into Ivy's

This is great! I don't see Holton Arms on this list. Isn't it considered a "Big 3" in the DMV? Yet low Ivy admission rates?

Holton is an excellent school but has never, in any discussion here or IRL been considered a Big 3. Really, never.

I will say several parents friends of mine with girls at Holton bemoan the low number of Holton girls who get in to the Ivies - and dine if those have daughters at the Ivies. A bit confusing for sure.

There are a lot of things I'm willing to do to help my DC's chances of gaining admission at a T20, but moving to Northern Virginia is not one of them.

Do you actually have discussions irl about which schools are “big”? Really? That’s odd.

well, i would expect that TJ would send more kids to T20 schools than the schools on the list send to the 8 Ivy League schools. It's 2.5x as many schools.

Actually STA and NCS both sent a high percentage to Ivies last year. NCS sent 4 to Columbia alone. STA sent several to Yale. Not to mention 11 to Univ of Chicago which is ranked higher than several ivies.

To do that, one would have to live in Virginia.

No thanks.

The community and culture is not appealing. We like a private school and the facilities that go along with it. They are two different worlds and private prepares kids socially and professionally in ways that publics do not.

Funny! Mine got into HYP from Holton as did several of her classmates. It depends on the year.

I don't want my kids to go to any of those colleges. Not even sure what UIUC is, but am sure my kids won't be applying.
