But if it didn't matter, why would they be the ones admitted? |
v Most students won't have class rank submitted. With GPA, they do some additional weighting based on the school and curriculum. At least that is what Dean J indicates. |
Depends on GPA. If the SAT score is not commensurate with the GPA, it could devalue a high GPA (according to some college consultants). So if your student has a 4.5 or above, which is on par with 1500+, am SAT score below that could raise questions (especially about grade inflation in this area). |
Conversely, plenty of kids in this area have a 4.5 and great test scores. So, your kid still isn’t getting in with no scores unless they bring something extra to the table. |
Excellent point, though Naviance is of decreasing value because the data points aren’t labeled with year and test optional applicants aren’t represented (the Y-axis yields little credible info now). But Naviance will tell you how many kids are applying to UVA. The competition is stiffest within-school. |
| I would submit the 1440. UVA isn’t heavily weighted on SAT scores as people would think. My 1480 student was accepted last year. After talking with many other first years about their applications now that they are there, he can see a pattern in the student they are looking for and it’s not SAT numbers. |
I would like a citation to that because I don't think it's ture. A 1440 is way below the mean of 1470 for UVA. I would not submit. https://research.schev.edu/iprofile.asp?UID=234076 |
1440 is not WAY below 1470. That's like 2 questions difference. |
Can you elaborate on this comment? What is the pattern? |
Did they apply ED? |
