You have no way of backing that up. The fact is that people here are just guessing. Aside from knowing UVA admissions talks about rigor and grades being most important, you can't possibly know where in the order the rest of the stuff comes. |
Standardized tests were listed as important before going test optional. |
Ok. Apply to UVA with the "high test score." Upon rejection, you'll find a way to blame Test Optional kids who were accepted. |
If SAT scores aren't important, why are the scores going up (as they are at most test optional schools)? |
That is in the same vein of if it isn’t urm and first gen benefiting primarily benefitting from test optional, why have record numbers of these students been admitted in the past two years? Some people here don’t like to think critically. |

If so, explain this claim from above. I don't understand it. "UVA does not use ED as most other schools do". My perception is that it uses like all other schools - and it is seeking top GPA in most rigorous courses, top scores to report to USNWR, athletes, top-flight talent in particular areas, URMs, first generation, Questbridge, Blue Ridge Scholar and legacies coming in last as a priority. |

Test optional is really a way for schools to admit who they want (athletes, URM, legacy) without it impacting the all important numbers they submit to USNWR. |
I haven't seen official numbers |
It doesn’t say that at all. It’s saying that look at the transcript and not just the GPA. Makes sense to me. “GPA is not the major factor in our review. Methodologies differ so much that it's impossible to know an applicant's academic story from the GPA. Two students with identical GPAs could have very different coursework and grades on their transcripts. This is why we talk about the transcript being the most important factor in understanding your academic preparation. The GPA attempts to summarize the work you've done, but we use the courses and grades on the transcript to fully understand your academic strength.” |
Asians are screwed, not just at UVA. |
PP here. What if the GPA is 4.0? |
They aren’t trying to fill their class with ED applicants. Some schools are. |
They are going up because only people with tippy top scores are submitting. |
