That is in the same vein of if it isn’t urm and first gen benefiting primarily benefitting from test optional, why have record numbers of these students been admitted in the past two years?

I’ve had similar conversations with UVA admissions.

If so, explain this claim from above. I don't understand it. "UVA does not use ED as most other schools do". My perception is that it uses like all other schools - and it is seeking top GPA in most rigorous courses, top scores to report to USNWR, athletes, top-flight talent in particular areas, URMs, first generation, Questbridge, Blue Ridge Scholar and legacies coming in last as a priority.

Test optional is really a way for schools to admit who they want (athletes, URM, legacy) without it impacting the all important numbers they submit to USNWR.

It doesn’t say that at all. It’s saying that look at the transcript and not just the GPA. Makes sense to me.

They aren’t trying to fill their class with ED applicants. Some schools are.

They are going up because only people with tippy top scores are submitting.
