No ideology (I think both parties have gone bonkers just in different aspects) but only wear masks if required

The politicization of masks was stupid in 2020 and it’s stupid now.
If you need or want a mask, wear one. |
If you are in opposition to the party platform, you are a member of the GOP. It's a two party position. You must support the entirety of the platform. No deviation. |

| I went tubing a few weeks ago in New Braunfels, TX. There was a woman who wore a mask for her entire float down the Comal River. I felt bad for her. |
Unfortunately, she may have really wanted to go tubing but has a chronic condition. My cousin who has just finished chemo wore her mask when camping when they were near others. |
It's a far reaching generalization. Especially if you make assumptions today about mask wearing. Quarantine is not necessary anymore if you test positive, but many people may choose to wear a mask, even if they would not wear one if asymptomatic or negative. Even hardcore anti-maskers may wear a mask in indoor public settings if testing positive. |
| At this point I assume mask wearers are medically fragile or actually have COVID & are doing the responsible thing. |
| I infer that mask wearers have a physical reason for wearing a mask-medically fragile, chronic illness, or has family member who is. |
| I assume mask wearers are intellectually superior. |
| The biggest problem of wearing masks to not get a virus is that you need to get sick once in a while. No really, to be 100% healthy without ever getting a cold just means that when you do get sick your body won't know what to do. I'm not suggesting not taking precautions if you can't get sick but to simply say you don't want to get anything because it's inconvenient is really short sighted. You need to develop your immune system. My family gets sick 1-2x annually maybe only once a year really. We have 2 kids. We don't do all that hand washing every time we go out and we don't go nuts with hand sanitizer and I think it's why we are all so protected from getting viruses often. Even as little kids, they never got sick much. We always wanted them to not be super clean because on some level being exposed to germs isn't going to kill you. Of course it's all relative but Im suggesting that nature is not to be totally ignored. There's only so much risk you are ever going to manage in life, you gotta be a bit more willing to live without so much fear and restraint. |
|
And then you get sick, and develop an autoimmune disease afterwards, and now need to mask.
Some people's immune systems react well to getting sick over and over again, some don't, as I found out the hard way in my 30s. Whoops. My mask wearing has nothing to do with my politics. |
This is my cousin. Except for he takes it off all the time to go to baseball games, fairs, etc. Then yells at people because they aren’t wearing one and potentially exposing him. He’s had four jabs, immunoglobulin, etc. At this point, there is so much virtue-signaling, who knows what’s the truth. |
I feel bad for you. As the other PP said she could have a chronic condition or a weakened immune system. She could have allergies or asthma that is triggered by air pollution. Maybe the mask is the thing that allowed her to go tubing. Maybe she’s sick of the tut-tutting, faces and rude comments from know-nothings who don’t know anything, don’t care to learn and still want “their team” to win. |

I saw a masker get totally owned this weekend. I was at this Irish pub in Cape Charles, and this guy walks in wearing a mask and asking to order takeout. Lady says no they don't do takeout, and few do in that town. Masker acts all stunned, and then says OK then we'll come over and sit outside. Lady says when you get your group together and sitting out there, we'll come take your order. They go outside and the lady and bartender roll their eyes at each other.
Then about 10-15 minutes later what I assume is the masker's teenage daughter comes in and says their party is all outside and ready to order whenever she's ready. Lady says fine OK we'll be out. Teenage daughter leaves, and lady goes out back as the bartender chuckles. About 15-20 minutes later some other lady comes in, evidently the sister of the masker. Sister says we've been waiting to place our order, and if you're not going to take it we'll have to leave. Bartender says that's fine, leave. Mind you there are just a few people in the pub; Lady and Bartender had plenty of opportunity to take the order. Sister leaves in a huff and then I see the whole group getting up from out the window--like 7 or 8 of them. Meanwhile the bartender and lady are laughing about all these losers wearing masks when Covid's been gone for like a year, and how hilarious it was to own the libs. Bartender says WTF are you doing coming into town wearing your mask all over the place like you're better than everybody. So yeah, there are consequences for wearing your mask. You don't get to eat. Or worse, you DO get to eat what the MAGA serve you LOL. |
