This is great news: women registering to vote in droves

I predict that GOP-leaning women will secretly vote for Dems even though they spew Trumpisms at home. Before it was flipped, people secretly voting for Trump.

100%. They’re starting to see that the GOP isn’t interested in “good women” exceptions, and if they get in and pass the national ban they’ve promised, there’s no escape valve for pregnant women who need to be not pregnant.

More info here (thread and link):

Do the democrats promise, pinky swear cross their hearts and hope to die that THIS TIME, they will enshrine right to choose im the law?

They’ve been saying it and DON’T do it.

They’ve already tried. It didn’t pass the filibuster.

Someone ought to tell the Republican pp that it only works if some “good Republicans” work with Democrats.

It’s certainly my most motivating issue, because it’s just the start of what the GOP will do to women’s rights (and then minority rights and then LGBTQIA+ rights and then poor people’s rights…). Family planning is the single most important factor in any woman’s economic life.

It’s a deciding factor where my 2 daughters will attend college. The open carry laws were bad but abortion is a while next level. We’re not giving money to a state that deems women as unequal.

Yes, they surely are. Because abortion was legal during the Trump years, and now, thanks to Trump's appointees, it's not.

I moved to a red state, and will be registering to vote next week. I never voted for Trump, but I’ll be included in these numbers.

Sorry which way are u voting ?

Yeah I had the same question.

That’s true. Unfortunately, enshrining right to choose didn’t pass the filibuster. Of course we could get rid of the filibuster but if we did, the Republicans would undo it and make abortion a federal crime next time they’re in power, which would be a disaster. Better to not enshrine right to choose than to allow Republicans to imprison women and doctors next time they’re in power.

Same. We had to take several states off the list entirely…and added a couple in Canada

We’re hoping things turn around. My child is a junior, so we have a little more time before decisions need to be made.

If Rs take control in 2025, though, that is when our worst case scenario planning comes into play. What happens in 2 months will be a good indicator of where things are headed. Next fall will be VA elections (our home state), so that will be another indicator. She will probably apply to the Canadian program just to see if she can get in. I might start looking at European programs, too-haven’t gotten that far.

For the time being, we are looking at schools in states without a ban. Jersey is looking good 😊 unfortunate that OH and WI had to be removed from consideration. I have some hope for MI.
