This is great news: women registering to vote in droves

School boards don’t make legislation on abortion.

Yes, they surely are. Because abortion was legal during the Trump years, and now, thanks to Trump's appointees, it's not.

And DeSantis et al have fueled the culture war to convince people the democrats want to install stripper poles in every classroom and teach kindergartners how to have anal sex

Voter registration is one thing, actually voting is another. I’m optimistic but we’ll have to wait until November.

Apparently yes.

So they were content with everything else trump and conservatives did just upset about abortion? Does not seem like these people will be very reliable.

There's a difference between content and motivated to go out and vote. They've been fed a line for years about how Republicans and Democrats are both equally terrible and somehow bought it mostly out of lazinesss.

Now they see the reality because of Roe V Wade. I suspect "these people" (condescending bulls---) may in fact be motivated and have gained a bit of clarity.

Call me cynical. If they are okay with Trump they are okay with RvW being overturned.

That is not the case with the R women I know. They are shocked that Roe was overturned.

I would love to listen in on a focus group of R women sometime. When Ds heard Kav and ACB during their confirmation hearings, we KNEW they were there to overturn Roe and it's exactly what they would do. I would love to hear from R women about what they actually heard and believed there. I find it astonishing that anyone could have come away thinking that Roe was safe with these two on the bench!

Republican women like to think of themselves as people and thought their party felt the same way. They bought all the lines about feminazis and all that and thought that they’d be able to choose their own lives and also serve the patriarchy. Surprise! Women aren’t people in the GOP!

My sister will still vote republicans…tax cuts, crisis at the border, etc. it is surprising how many white women vote for trump/republican.

I am not White, but I am a woman and I will certainly vote Republican. Used to vote for the Democrats and I am pro-choice. But, right now, there are a million more issues that are more important to me.

Border security, inflation, crime. The Democrats have NOTHING to offer me on any of these issues.

Inflation was caused by the Republicans (and COVID); it takes time to fix the mess created by their greed. This is a standard cycle after a Republican has been in office.

I moved to a red state, and will be registering to vote next week. I never voted for Trump, but I’ll be included in these numbers.

I think we need an election law that say if your ad or your message to voters is found to be a lie, you must spend double the amount that you spent on the lie admitting it and correcting it in the same manner that you first spread it. Too many voters are being duped.

It’s certainly my most motivating issue, because it’s just the start of what the GOP will do to women’s rights (and then minority rights and then LGBTQIA+ rights and then poor people’s rights…). Family planning is the single most important factor in any woman’s economic life.

Exactly this.

Without full rights to control our own bodies, women are nothing more than slaves.

They’ll be coming for birth control, our right to vote, our right to work outside the home and our right to have bank accounts and a credit card. They’re coming for the whole thing, and any woman dim enough to vote for the GOP at this point deserves whatever she gets in the christo-fascist state the GOP is working towards.
