Really? What solution have the Republicans ever had to this problem? Name one. We’ll wait.

How can republicans solve a problem when the city is run by liberals you elected to solve those problems?

Federal and state laws, fool. How can you not know how our government works?

So what’s the Republican plan on a state or federal level? We’ll wait…

So what’s the democrats plan on a state or federal level? We will all die waiting…

Reinstate commitment and funding state mental hospitals like we had before Reagan.

But at your age and weight, you may have dropped dead already. I typed as fast as I could. RIP, old timer.

Not even close but keep trying!

The Democrats are right on this issue. We have to reinstate civil commitment and mental health hospitals. Reagan closed them all and opened the doors. The ACLU has to stay out of it as they’re doing with dementia patients. Huge mistakes were made in the 1980’s that need to be fixed.

Sweetheart, I was born during that administration. Your insults shoe you are low level and have no valuable argument. It’s your only “defense.”

NP here. There is only so much any city can do - especially a city like DC. The mentally I’ll cannot be committed and there is no longer any place to commit them. These were federal programs that were cut.

I’m not a liberal and I am not in denial. I work in this public policy field and municipal hands are tied. NP here.

Democrats are in office now, doing nothing of what you’ve made up. You are nothing more than a yapping piehole.

I had a homeless man sit next to me on the bus. He was watching movies on his dvd tv thing that he held in his hands. He kept touching and stroking my knee and getting closer to me (I was a window). Finally I look over and see what he’s watching and it’s violent porn of a gang rape and a woman being fisted. I about threw up from it. I tried to get off at the next stop but he wasn’t going to let me out. Finally I just stepped over him but he grabbed my butt on the way out. Everyone screamed at me and glared at me. They thought I was being rude to this homeless guy. A guy even said “what a b$&@”. I basically just sat down on the sidewalk and cried. I saw him multiple times on the bus after that watching the same videos. Sick that they’re allowed to just ride all day long assaulting people.

I think I know the one who threw the coffee at you. Did he scream too?

If everyone’s going to blame the republicans on it since the 80’s, then the democrats are just as complicit. That’s a long time to do something about it and only serves to show that democrats are nothing but talk.

I stopped on a corner - was talking to my son and a homeless guy took a Frappuccino out the garbage and hit me in the face. I was stunned but was scared. We went into Teds bulletin to rinse off and wait a while for the guy to leave. I then just asked a staff to accompany me to the corner to cross the street. Of course this was traumatic but I also had a hard time explaining to my son what happened and how to deal. He is 6. He was nervous, I was nervous.. all my best judgement went out the window. I’ve given homeless people money on occasion - to show my son empathy. I dont think I ever want to do that again. I feel violated.
Im also a bit scared now - is there anything I can do better? Any thing I can teach my son? I also wanted to fight back but something in me said it wasn’t worth it. This is weird to ask for advice — but if you have any that would be great. I’m lucky it was just a drink and not glass or spit or metal.

Or old putrid urine, for some reason the really mentally ill homeless people like to collect their urine, watch out for the ones with the milk jugs full of yellowy/brownish liquid. Give them a very wide berth.
