Call them.

Are you stuck in 19th century or something? Why do you ask people to call all the time?

When an application is received, why don't they acknowledge the receipt? Why don't they send updates to parents on processing status? Why don't they send an ETA for the decision on rejection or acceptance? What is stopping them from making decisions on the applications? All of these tasks can be automated in no time. Why do they waste so much time sending junk messages and emails about things that are irrelevant?

Because grownups who want to know follow up. You sound very high maintenance. If you cannot call or take any responsibility your kids are going to have a tuff time in virtual.

If you have any answers, go ahead and contribute. Why preach? Oh.. That makes you feel that you are better than other parent who is asking questions right? Yet, you have no idea what the questions are and what limitations do they have. Are you familiar with "compassion". If not, you can google and show some to one who is trying to find answers from other parents.

How hard is it to call to follow up? If you can take the time to post here you can call. You are not asking questions someone can anwser. We only know what you know from the website. The website says they are working on it.

You are assuming that person can speak. There is no forum that MCPS provides other than DCUM that is used by some to get answers.

There are groups for VA. No idea what you are talking about. MCPS does not provide any forums including this one. Its privately hosted.

If you cannot talk, then email. Or, go in person and write it down.

In person? lolol. And you guys think these people actually answer the phones?

Ok NP here, I called them and they picked up the phone immediately. Why are you here asking strangers for more info? Like the last person said, we know the same as you. If you want more info, then pick up the phone and CALL. And fwiw, I did get a response that my application was received. I was told they have to process them all in order. It may even be the case that DS will have to go to the home school until the application is processed. Not ideal, but not the end of the world. Be patient or call for an update. None one here is going to know the status of your application. Everyone is going to get accepted, so relax and enjoy the last days of summer.

Many of us last year did not hear till the week before. Some families are still not sure if they are staying or going back in person so it may be a matter of a slot opening up. They have been clear they are trying to take as many students as they can. Hope your kids child gets in.

They generally have someone at the front desk during business hours. I’ve been to the office multiple times. And, that person handles the phones. With that said they don’t have as many staff as a regular school despite the size. We are hoping they will be funded for more. Talk to the boe about it.

Meanwhile, we're being told to register at the school so that our school doesn't lose teachers. Last year there was a surge in last minute enrollments and the kindergarten classes were larger than they were supposed to be (Focus school). I don't know why MCPS can't process these applications faster- it not only affects the families but introduces uncertainty for the home schools too.

It has zero impact on the home school. Home school is still funded for your child if you are in VA. I suspect it’s either they don’t have the staff or they don’t have the space. Some of us planned to return in person this year but with how Covid is decided to stay.

Yeah I've heard the VA is having staffing problems, like everywhere else I guess. So much for everyone wanting a WFH job.....

I don't think they are having staffing issues, I think its funding issues. They are fully staffed same as last year. They need more positions, especially in lower school.
