Is it nuts to be prepping for a food shortage?

Anonymous
OP
The USDA projects an actual increase in exports this marketing year, to 204.6 million metric tons from 203.3 million tons in 2021/2022 and 199.3 million tons the year before.

While Putin is going for world hunger we should be ok. Not saying prices will drop just that there is enough.

If the GOP win in 2024 then all bets are off. We will have bread lines. We will have shortages they will do this to control the masses. I am not wrong they have written this down.

I need to re-prep. We moved across multiple states and just ate through our supplies to restock once we got here. I guess I'll start doing that this week. But as the above said, it's not hoarding. I'll add on maybe 4-5 extra things (rice, dry beans, canned stuff) every grocery trip until I've got a good stock. We are now walking distance to a stocked pond which is a huge benefit. I mean that's only if S hits the fan.

You are all insane.

Speak for yourself.

I do. And I’m speaking as the NOT crazy one here, honey!

Do you really, actually think, in your little hamster wheel trumper brain, that we’re going to *run out of food*? Seriously????

It’s ok, darling. The adults are in charge, and the President (the current one. I mean. The one you don’t like) isn’t going to let the country run out of food.

You all sound like a paranoid nutters, the whole lot of you on this thread. All of you need intensive mental health therapy in a secure facility where you cannot leave.

Who believes the Democrats who won’t protect our border, will protect our food availability and affordability — for the regular people?

We can't even figure out how to stop 20-year-old pimple-faced active shooters. Let that sink in.

Not when politicians demand cops to stand down, rather than do what they were trained to do (stop the killers).

Not the OP, but I live in an apartment without a balcony or fire escape and no direct sunlight. I can't even keep a plant alive in my apartment. Not everyone has the privilege of being able to grow their own food.

Learning to grow a plant isn’t a privilege. Poor people around the world have done it for centuries just to survive.

Elites should take their hate politics elsewhere.

Prepping is an elite activity. And people all over the world grow food and still manage to go hungry.

It really isn't. Look at the prepper community and also remember the Mormons are the ultimate preppers...The current LDS church asks members to have 1 year of supplies at all times and always has. If a kid is in a house-share, they are still encouraged to have 2 weeks for each person in the home. So are LDS ppl not normal?

do you seriously want an answer to that question? We still have the giant bag of rice we bought at the beginning of the pandemic. no more stocking up here.

Really hard to get past all this vitriol. But -- I posted upthread that I started stocking our pantry in response to COVID. I'm not planning in my "little hamster wheel trumper brain" (F U BTW) "that we're going to "*run out of food*". I experienced enough uncertainty with my Whole Foods and Instacart deliveries.

Also I detest Trump and voted for Biden. You are nasty, "darling."

Or when they're so cowardly that they stand down all by themselves, you mean, no politicians required? Cowards.

I can't tell if this thread is many crazy people, just a handful who keep posting, or it's just a bunch of smart-a$$es who keep feeding the trolls.

+1 however I still remember a thread around march 2020 Of someone asking what to tell their kids when people start dying from COVID on the streets. There is crazy people on DCUM.

I'm doing the same. I am intentionally buying food that my family would only eat if we were starving. This method prevents them from going into the emergency stash for routine snacking needs. My kids insist that they would "never eat that!" And I tell them they certainly would if they got hungry enough. Hopefully, it won't come to that, but chance favors the prepared and whatnot.

Clever! We used to have some MRIs I had kept for emergencies and camping trips. When I finally opened them, my DC had eaten all the breakfast bars and bacon and left the scrambled eggs and water pouches.

Thanks for this.

I'm confused-- what lie was told? There were massive deaths from Covid. Folks were literally dropping dead.
