Give what a try? You’re not convincing me to join your campaign to lobby MCPS to put more mitigation in place next year than they did this year, but no one is stopping you from engaging in such efforts. Seems some of their federal covid $$ could have been used more wisely, I’ll give you that. But I don’t know how much is left to fund whatever it is you’re looking for. |

Here's an idea - if people worked together and were willing to be part of the solution, it would be under control much sooner.. but because of people like you it will go on for many more years. Its kinda sad you don't care about education as kids who are sick cannot get an education when they don't feel well. |

This is a hyper naive POV. There are over 300 million people in the US. Millions of people are traveling across, in, and out of this country every day. It's hard to put into words how meaningless it is to say "people working together" would solve this. No one individual is relevant in the slightest. You're not part of the solution because you're not facing reality. |

I live nearby too. I think it’s a couple things. People are oddly afraid of the germs of strangers, so even though it makes no epidemiological sense, these people are getting together with others indoors unmasked, having their kids unmask for a 7 hr school day, etc. but popping on a mask at Safeway even though your risk of getting covid passing a rando in the frozen foods aisle is way less than having a 10 kid sleepover party. But I also think the majority of people are not doing anything to prevent getting it and it’s honestly just really contagious. |

There you go again, saying we need to get COVID "under control" without ever describing what that means. COVID is under control, as long as you're vaccinated/boosted or you're a child. COVID has already joined the set of viruses in widespread circulation. Nothing is going to put that genie back in the bottle. The only thing "under control" could possibly mean is making it low risk due to vaccines and treatments, which we've already done. |

Then what? Let's go a step farther. Not that it is even remotely realistic, but let's say the whole DC region went into a hard lockdown where no one left their house for any reason for a month (obviously setting aside the need for food, medical and emergency services). And let's say that happened to be enough to eliminate COVID in this region. There's still COVID in other parts of the country and world. So, unless we dome ourselves off and stop anyone from entering/leaving, COVID is going to come right back. And a few weeks after that we'd be right back where we started. |

And, of course, even this wouldn't work. Shanghai is in its seventh week of true (chain the front doors, steal your babies, kill your pets) lockdown, and they still haven't cracked it. And the minute they open back up at all, it's going to flare. People should continue wearing their K95's if they want, but that's as far as it goes any more. |

| 3% is COVID in a class is about 10% of a class. Requiring masks only after 10% spread is too little too late in a community. The surge was predictable after spring break and MCPS is showing how spread ramps up out of control without masks. |
