Holy Trinity Father-Daughter Dance - Covid

Because it’s for MEN that’s the whole point, or do you think your daughter somehow won’t benefit from having a strong man in her life?

not creepy imo but they do exclude those who don’t have a Dad. Why couldn’t it just be a dance for everyone?

Our school doesn't exclude those who don't have a dad. Girls can instead bring a man who is important in their life -- usually a grandfather or uncle.
2 mom family here. That would nice if the kids were preschool age or even early elem. But how do you think an older child feels, yes she can bring an adult relative but it’s not the same. They should just have a dance and let the kids bring any grown up.

Yes, they did that. It was a daughter dance. Kids could bring their father or favorite adult dance partner.

Like a creepy uncle?

If you can’t find one trusted adult male in your daughter’s life to send then you need to re-evaluate your priorities. Every man that isn’t a girl’s father is automatically creepy to you and it’s disgusting that you think that way. You are sexist.

Don’t forget they hate you.

Back before all of the scandals, being. a Catholic meant something. That included Catholic school children being taught to model exem

^ exemplary behavior in the community. With HTS, you have selfish superspreaders telling the community to F Oo. So nice (not)

A small school community event of families who already go to school together is not a big deal at all right now.

Except they are becoming superspreaders, much like the bigger events. And that causes a lot of disruption in the school community. We just went through this at our school. Many students out with COVID, and teachers too, other events having to be postponed. It definitely has an impact.

School is over in like 3 weeks! People are done…

Not PP but I agree with her. The "trusted" men in my Catholic school community took full advantage.

I used to think this way too, but then a friend whose husband and tween daughter have been to a handful of them via their church and related groups told me that pretty quickly into these parties the girls wind up hanging out with each other having a great time and eating lots of snacks/treats, and the dads wind up on hanging around talking/networking. Her daughter and husband really enjoy it. It's not for my family personally, but once it was explained to me this way it made a lot more sense.

Why is there a fixation on this Board with outbreaks resulting from Catholic School functions, when so many area schools have seen outbreaks over the past couple of months after events? More than one school has seen huge spikes after prom or other school dances, another area private had to delay its school musical for a week after an outbreak at least partially tied to a party. The fact is that these things are going to happen, and yes, its frustrating, but why all this anger directed at Catholic schools with relatively small communities? You want to paint the Catholic community as being full of anti-vax, anti-maskers, but these communities are not behaving any differently than most school communities right now.

Father daughter dances are sweet. I think it feels antiquated because it’s not very inclusive especially in communities where kids may not have a relationship with their fathers. The evangelical purity balls also put a gross spin on them and gives them an ick factor. Like the dad is the defender of his daughter’s purity or something. I know my first grader would love to go to a dad and daughter dance so I wish they weren’t so loaded and were culturally accepted.

Covid is everywhere in DC right now. I know lots of people who have it, and it's not just a cold for everybody.
