I was going to say Corner Slice in Bethesda! Only come in one size though: extra large. They also serve slices. Generally like all pizza mentioned in this thread for different reasons. My favs are: MD - Corner Slice, Vace DC - Pete's for New Haven style (love the clams), Wise Guys for NY style, Pizza Paradiso for Neopolitan VA - Italian Store for NY Style, Puppetella for ooey gooey toppings. Haven't tried the ones in Springfield. Deli Italiano in Great Falls used to be great but over Covid, they've gone majorly down hill. |
+1 Corner Slice |
Frank Pepe's (New Haven Style) just opened at the Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda - game changer for pizza in DC area. |
Describe the pizza? |
Don't get too excited. I'm a CT native and I've visited some of the other Pepe locations that have opened up around the Northeast. Despite carrying the Pepe name, these locations don't even come close to putting out the same quality of pizza you find in New Haven. |
B/c they cannot use coal... |
For fast food style, we like Mod and Pieology. |
There is no good NY style pizza in this area. If someone tells you any of these places are good, they forgot what good pizza taste like.

It's a thinner chewy crust - so not bready but not crispy thin crust either if that makes sense? I think the family that owns it is from Italy originally - they have calzones/stromboli, subs, pasta dishes etc as well. |
Unpopular opinion but I personally feel that Papa Johns in Silver Spring, a couple blocks from the Consulate of Guatemala, is the best pizza in MD |
Totally miss Pete’s in SS! Matchbox is great but it’s like Frankly- you aren’t going to pick up 5 pies & call the neighbors over as it’s pricey |
I love cipolla rosa’s food truck. It is wood fired and delicious. I catch them at the Bethesda Sunday central farmers market but they frequent several locations through the week. Seriously check out their reviews. They are the best. |

Also from NY, agree that Andy's is surprisingly good. For Napoli style, Menomale is great. |
Neopolitan Pizza:
DC - 2 Amys MD - Inferno Pizzeria (Margherita) and Emma Rossi (Veedone) Thankfully Inferno is 5 mins down the road and Emma Rossi periodically goes to the wineries. But hands down my favorite pizza is Emma Rossi's Verdone (pesto, mozza, balsamic glaze, etc). NY Style - still haven't found a place better than Mama Lucia. |
