Pro-reform advocates are not interested in FCPS spending a large percentage of its time solving the admissions problem. There is a staff whose job it is to do that - the TJ Admissions Office. |
You are delusional and your efforts are completely misplaced. Parents will decide how to spend their own money, they don't need YOU to tell them. And they will decide whether they will support their kids in getting as good as they can be in sports, or STEM, or whatever else. Well rounded kids - you do understand that it means different things to different families, right? Unless you moved here from a socialist country, I do not understand your need for this level of control at all. It goes without saying that parents will decide how to spend their money and raise their children. But they should not be rewarded through the TJ admissions process for streamlining their child's development from such an early age - and creating an opaque admissions process that intentionally seeks exceptional students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse interests will de-incentivize the sort of destructive behavior that has resulted in the significant mental health issues that have plagued TJ for over a decade. The number of families who feel forced to play catch-up with this behavior in order to have a shot at TJ was staggering over the years. Raise your kids however you want - just don't feel entitled to a reward for your choices. |

They have garnered wisdom over decades having spent countless hours on rumination and also understand everything about mental health and know what's good for you without even knowing you. Thank you. Thank you! |
What McAuliffe said - stupidly but correctly - is that "parents shouldn't be telling schools what to teach their kids". And by any reasonable interpretation, that is objectively a correct statement. While I understand the desire for each individual parent to have influence on what their student is taught, those same parents in most cases wouldn't welcome a parent that they disagreed with also having that same influence. The way we decide these things is at the ballot box when you vote for the School Board and they run on their respective priorities. You and I are likely in agreement that many members of the present School Board need to go, if for no other reason than the sloppiness of their work. I'm no politician, but what I am is a person who knows that they're talking about with respect to TJ. I've seen the damage that has been done to students countless times, in ways that would be inappropriate to bring up in a context like this one but that - trust me - you would never want to see for your own children. And I've also seen the brilliance of what the environment can provide when students and parents approach it with the right mindset. And yes, when you've seen it as long as I have, you learn that there is a "right" and a "wrong" way to approach TJ because the results are too consistent. |
You can't argue the messiah. "They" know it all. They have garnered wisdom over decades having spent countless hours on rumination and also understand everything about mental health and know what's good for you without even knowing you. Thank you. Thank you! It's pretty simple - do the work, gain the experience, go through the realities of being a TJ student, and then you can talk. |
It's pretty simple - do the work, gain the experience, go through the realities of being a TJ student, and then you can talk. Both Johnny Manziel and Tom Brady worked hard to make it to the NFL. One is the GOAT and the other unfortunately is a bust. Now if Johnny Manziel’s experience is projected as representative of the NFL we can reach a conclusion that is very different from Brady’s experience. We have become such a soft society that we blame personal shortcomings on “systemic” issues. That is your problem. You are building a “do-gooder” narrative to justify your actions. It won’t work. Embrace you failure and move on. |

Fairfax Board of Supervisors must represent ALL the citizens of the county. Asians must make up 20% of the Board of Supervisors. Board of Supervisors must be exposed to the benefits of working in a "diverse" environment where they will be exposed to different ethnicities and cultures that is Fairfax County and that will make them a better human being and better government officials.
We need Asian Diversity & Inclusion Officer for the Fairfax County appointed immediately to promote Asians in ALL aspects of the County government. We need 20% Asians on the school board. We need 20% of Asian judges in the county. We need 20% Asian judges in the county. We need 20% of top positions in the FCPS. We need Asian principal for TJ not some fumbling fool who cannot think for herself. |
At least you're open in your racism. TJ must be reserved for Asians. |
TJ principal should be Asian to reflect the demographics of the TJ students.

What in the world are you talking about? That the messiah was a bust at TJ. Hence the railing...hmm..I may know who you are messiah. You shouldn't have been at TJ in the first place. Just because you were not a fit, you are projecting here. |
Absolutely. |
