Drugs at Hardy (?)

Right now it's low risk marijuana chewables but those are a gateway drug, and a child reckless enough to use them at school may try something else. Also i wonder who is the source for these drugs and what else that person may be offering.

Marijuana chewable in a 14 year old is a bigger risk than just as a gateway drug.

The linked article gives no information about actual prevalence. It could be there were three deaths in 2020 and one n 2019. They go on to talk about "pre-teens and teens" but that's anyone under the age of 20.

What they are saying is not that prevalence of drug use is higher but that overdoses are more frequent due to fentanyl. guessing getting the wrong kind of drugs might be especially risky for these very young users because their judgement is so out the window.

I totally agree with you, and though marijuana does not have the same addictiveness as other drugs it is still addictive, in particular for users who start young.

Addictiveness also varies between people, so while it may be NBD for some, it’s quite risky for others.

Many of the kids also have the dark web on their computers and some are accessing inappropriate materials during the school day.

Is this another apocalyptic "Hardy bad school" rumor mongering by the same non-native English poster? Did you hear somebody beat up at Hardy? You know Hardy kids at Safeway? Where principal? Student Hardy drug abuse? Please stop... it's getting really stale. 2022 Hardy is no worse than any of the other DCPS middle schools.
If it apocalyptic rumor-mongering, I'd like to report that my kid got exposed to drugs and alcohol through her rich friends in Upper Northwest and Bethesda. We lived in a poor neighborhood and she commuted to Hardy. Whether there were drugs at Hardy there back then or not, I don't know. But she didn't get drugs and alcohol in our poor neighborhood. You need to watch the kids from good families with money because they're just as able to lead your kid astray.

Agreed. This is apparently coming from the affluent/popular kids. I am hearing about mainly the girls.
