90K is very possible for this year.

Let's go for 100K next year.

This sums up Northeastern perfectly.

I actually think the rise in applications is because of the "cool" factor--combination of urban/co-ops/innovative experiential approach. It's not for everyone but a huge number of high achievers applied from my DC's school (and, no, not as a "safety"...they are applying because it really appeals to them, especially for STEM and design.)

Also in some fields employers explicitly state that relevant work experience is more important than where you went to college, even for new grads. College with strong coop programs are very popular for this reason.

I posted the 90K number - I got that from an admissions officer at NE who said it in a webinar for admitted students we attended this week

God, what a grossly overrated school.

Also graduates tremendously annoying kids. Our firm hired two NEU grads and both were insufferable and were fired within 6 months.

Wow, it took longer than usual for the NEU troll to show up. Welcome!

For the NEU bashers, what makes it overrated? Yes, it USED to be a commuter school and played the game to rise up USNWR rankings, but now enrolls high stat kids from all over the country and has an acceptance rate below 20%. Poor education? Subpar job placement? Serious inquiry. My rising senior and I really liked it. Outside a couple of "lottery" schools, it's his first choice.

To be frank, it just doesn't have that great of an image. LOTS of kids make fun of it, think of it as the desperate school that gamed the rankings, etc. It's an image issue almost solely since I'm sure it'a good school (though not sure if it's enough to justify the price/hype). We'll see if that image changes a decade or two from now.

If that's true, that's because the handful of kids around you are spoiled brats raised by shallow parents who only care about prestige.
I have a kid in a T20 school and never heard of the kid and kid's friends making fun of other schools.
Well I guess there's always a loud minority voice.

The general image of Northeastern is a cool city school that produces results.
That's why the application is surging. It would be the opposite if the image is actually bad duh.

Don't listen to the rejected moms. They thought it was a school they could get in, but rejected, so got mad now.

The school is actually underrated considering the stats, acceptance rate, and performance.
As you can imagine from the stats, the kids at Northeaster are very smart and hard working.

If you get into a T25ish school, you are most likely to attend the school,
otherwise schools like Northeastern are becoming the next option for a lot of the smart kids..

Lol the NEU kool-aid at its finest. NEU may be a lot of things, but I can promise you that its general image is definitely not one of a "cool city school" (lmao).

I mean, come on, let's get real. The top post on Applying2College right now is a bunch of students and prospective students decrying the school.

Heck, you don't even need to go to Reddit. NEU regularly gets dunked on on TikTok, lol.
