Sure, if that makes you happy. |
And are Ayn Rand disciples. |
| LOL. A lot of angry food servers here. |
| Remember this line from True Grit? "Ground's too hard. If them men wanted a decent burial, they should have gotten themselves killed in summer." This thread reminds of that line. If you want more money, you should have stayed in school"... LOL |
Never served food for pay in my life. I just tip because it is the right thing to do. |
| You just noticed inflated food prices this week, OP? Love to live in your bubble. Lol |
|
WHAT?! If you take-out from a place you normally eat-in, the same person is taking time away from tables (with tipping customers) to wrap up your food. TIP THEM.
It's a pandemic. Be as generous as you possibly can, especially if you have not lost employment, enjoyed flexible work from home options, and your retirement remains intact. |
And if that makes you happy, you should continue. Don't preach though. |
DP - A lot of people who have been receiving the CTC for the previous six months woke up to a different world on January 15th. Have some pity of them (not too much since the rest of us have been talking about this since summer) - they were getting $900/mo if they had 3 kids and an endless amount depending on the number of children. Knew of someone with 11 kids taking in $3,000+ a month. So yeah, even if it was 'just' $900 - who cares if you're tipping a little extra at your favorite restaurants. The price wasn't hurting your bank account before. |
No. Just cheapskates over asserting their crap viewpoint. |
For doing their job?

my 14 yo daughter works at a mom and pop. She gets $12.75 per hour since she doesnt qualify for minimum wage at her age. She works 5 hours on Saturday and sometimes on Sunday. With tip, she averages $16 an hour while those over 16 are making almost $20 an hour.
The restaurant owners are extremely wealthy and not only did they collect on the pandemic funds (utilized correctly), they also raised food prices and changed their menu to cut on costs. I find it very odd that now that most older wait staff is making $15, considered a living wage, and with tips it is higher, but the owners keep getting richer and richer. Why am I subsidizing the owner's extravagant lifestyle so his employees can eat? why are teenagers making more than adults working in retail, education, or other professional jobs? |
I don’t know what you are trying to say. |
Me either. Sounds like the menu and prices changed due to inflation, yet waiters are still making $16-$20/hour, which is decent for a high schooler. |
| I just picked up from a deli and they ran out of pickles , chips and dessert and certain breads I am like WTF is this |
