Seriously, most of the price increase is on workers salaries.

Now your take out taco is $12 v $10?? What is big deal.

No idea where you all seeing huge grocery bills, though we don’t eat red meat so maybe that’s most of it.

I didn't notice the inflation until this week but it really was shocking

Um, my weekly groceries went from $275/week to $400/week maybe 3 months ago. Roughly 50% increase. So 20% increase at a restaurant is forgiving.

Are you getting a 20% raise? Who's fault is this. Why isn't this problem ba priority

Because TV says it's only transitory. I'm just waiting for the day the transitory period ends

Then the restaurants should pay the workers enough to not make us play this game of who's going to tip the most. If I eat at the same restaurant as OP I'm basically subsidizing OP's lack of tipping. The restaurant industry needs to shape up or ship out. Maybe they deserve to fail

Even McDonalds is basically $10 per meal. A place like Five Guys is closer to $16. And they want a tip.

As people age they forget food prices rise. My mother still thinks prices should be like in the 1970s. As the cost of ingredients increase, menu prices will as well.

This is stupid. You really think if PP makes their own meals and stops going to restaurants, that it helps the restaurant workers?

Getting take-out and not tipping is still better than not going at all. Duh.

When I waitressed, my hourly wage was $3/hour. My entire earnings were tips basically. I don't think cashiers get paid that way.

Bunch of UMC cheapskates on here. What are we talking, an extra 10 bucks, tops?

We just got takeout from Sweetwater, and I tipped 20% and it was about $48 for three dishes.

No, that's not most of it, we only buy one meat item a week and our bill has gone up from about $90-100 at Aldi at the start of the pandemic to $130-150. We are buying a little more as our kids get older and eat more but not 50% more. That's called inflation.

But yes, if you can't tip on takeout, cook your own meals.

Even a few dollars would be good. They do help expedite your order.

It’s not only the price increase but for in person we’ve had terrible service. Honestly if we didn’t have a history with places we’d only ever do carry out.
