My child really didn’t like Macalester. Did not like the area at all. The tour guide had only been at the school for one semester (from Ethiopia) and had only been virtual. Loved Northfield and the colleges there. |
Ours has 2021 data. |
I don’t think people “forget about” Ga Tech. The admission rate for EA last year for OOS students was 14%. It’s a reach for everyone OOS. |
| A lot of people simply don't want to be in the south. |
Gatech grads make more because they major in engineering. When making direct major comparisons like Computer science, Emory grads make more. |
That's debatable. Emory is likely a little harder https://admissionslawsuit.unc.edu/about/admissions/ UNC is 14% OOS 1370- 1540 Emory 13% 1420- 1550 |
Looks like first PP is completely wrong then. |
My kid had similar stats and a similar list a few years back and ended up at Bowdoin. I was hoping they would go to UVA. (Applied and accepted at UVA instead of WM.) Applied, accepted and loved Vassar and Wesleyan. Had merit at Case in case that's a consideration... |
Yeah. Class of 2021 got the shaft. |
Kenyon gives a lot of merit aid and this poster’s child would be very high stat there. |

1410 SAT, 4.0 unweighted, 4.7 weighted. MCPS. Wants to stay somewhat local with more than 4000 undergrads.
UMD, UVA, W&M, American, Pitt, Delaware, UMBC, GMU |
You have to remember that a good chunk of those UNC OOS admits are legacies, who get an admissions bump. Not put in the “in state” pile, but are separated out from the other OOS into their own group. So OOS non-legacy is less than 14%. |
Is he/she submitting scores? |
Um, Emory has a higher rate for legacies as well... That's not an excuse. |
| HYPS. |
