Is he/she submitting scores?

Not taking SAT again? DD has same grades in MCPS and SAT is 150+ higher

some people aren't test takers you know and frankly a 1410 is plenty good enough to get into all of those schools, and more.

Once you are over 1400 you are fine, especially if you are over 700 in each. No need to retake at that level.

Does this rule (“over 1400 you are fine “) hold for schools like Tulane and Wake Forest/ W& M out of state?

No.

It does according to our counselor. They do not advise retakes.

Was supposed to say - At our HS, I’d feel more confident with a 1440 or higher.

1400 isn't even the mean SAT at W&M--and OOS needs higher.

If not retaking SAT, very unlikely to get accepted by UVA, W&M

probably troll post but if you are in fact the parent of a kid applying this fall, better add some safeties and matches on there. Very real possibility of an 0-7 score at the END of the admissions game.

In fact I'll go out on a limb and said your kid is statistically more likely to end up 0-7 than to get into any of those schools.

Not a troll and applying to 8 schools as listed not 7.

whoops you're right, ok great so 0-8! Good luck to you

Pretty confident of 2-3 acceptances: 4.0 ugpa, 4.56 wgpa (top 3%) , 1600 SAT, all 5s on APs, debate and MUN awards, original biotech/CS research, AIME, writing award etc.

That's fantastic and all and likely true, but I'd throw in a school that your kid loves that has acceptance rates above 20%.

For sure that kid is seriously toying with being cut out completely!

3.68 GPA, 1570 SAT some nat'l awards, state things, Capt of sports team, fair amount of service, nationally recognized magnet program. Applying for primarily arts/humanities. Lots of reaches b/c it's such a crapshoot up there. Veteran parents, does this cover the bases?

^^^woops 4.68 GPA not 3.68, UW is like 3.97

Love that your kid didn’t overlook a true safety (Muhlenberg), PP! I’m sure he/she will get into multiple schools and have some tough choices.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! It is a stressful time and hoping for a few acceptances to choose from. We know it's a bit of a roulette at that level, but glad she likes the safety and hoping that, as a real safety, she doesn't need more. She is doing a great job of communicating to schools to let then know she is interested because she genuinely likes all her choices right now,

is she doing an ED or SCEA

SCEA Yale, since the rest are mostly ED (wish we had the money to do that)! Wish some of the others did EA.
