Should kids wear masks in stores?

Anonymous
I went to Barnes and Noble today with my son.
There were 2 families in the kids section -- none of their 5 kids were wearing masks. All were older than 4. (It didn't help that one of the dads had a mask over his face but not his nose).
I was pissed. Should I have been?

Did you complain to the staff?

Of course they should. Every single person over the age of two years old should be wearing a mask when they are indoors ANYWHERE other than their home.

They should absolutely, 100% be wearing masks. Next time please do either ask them yourselves to put on masks or complain to the store management.

Let the manager know and let them deal them. That's the manager's job.

I hope you complained. Everyone should have masks indoors.

They should. My 4 year old wears a mask. However .... I’m not sure about in other states but in VA, the mask order only technically applies to people age 10+. So if other states are similar, little kids without masks aren’t breaking the order.

I live in Silver Spring, MD. Every kid I’ve seen over two is wearing a mask. I’ve also seen people with those plastic rain covers over strollers.

Yes. I was in Costco today. Everyone had masks on except for babies and preschoolers.

Yes, they absolutely should be wearing masks but unless the store or state are enforcing it...can't do a thing except give the evil eye and keep yours kids away. Even preschoolers can be trained to wear them -- make it fun, like full-time Halloween.

My 2.5 year old can and does wear a mask when we go outside. But we also aren’t taking her to any stores. I would be upset if I saw children indoors not wearing a mask.

Dad is stupid. I don't know why people don't understand that you need to have a good fitting mask that covers both your nose and mouth.

I personally would not take my dd (5 and wears a mask) to hang out in a bookstore right now.

I have understanding for kids under 5 and the parents trying and sometimes failing on mask adherence but that seems over the top and the pulling masks under the nose thing really gets to me

Technically yes, but I see so many kids fiddle with their masks nonstop I wonder if it does more harm than good.
