Should kids wear masks in stores?

Anonymous
NP. We have taken our kids, 6 and 8, to the bookstore to browse. It's safe enough and has benefitted them mentally. Also, they picked out a couple books to buy.

It's hard to know what the right thing to do is right now. Should we continue to stay home all the time or should we go out occasionally, wearing masks, following the current restrictions? Neither choice is wrong, both choices are right.

Something to do?

There should be no age restriction as children as frequently asytomatic. Keep your young kids at home if they don't wear a mask!

Nope, I will follow what our governor’s rules/laws are. You don’t make the rules. My child under 10 doesn’t have to wear a mask. You can stay home if you don’t like it.

I think the kids shouldn't have been in the store period. No reason for the mask because they didn't need to be there.

If my child was too young to wear a mask, I would keep them home.

Our state requires masks for 2+. I would complain. If it's a parent trying to grab stuff in a grocery store and the kid won't cooperate and keep the mask on, I have sympathy. But browsing at a bookstore is a privilege and you wear a mask.

You shouldn't be going to the store with your kids in the first place. If you need to go to a store, one adult from the family goes in, quickly buys what is needed, and goes home.

I am in WA state. All children 5 and older are required to wear a mask.

Have you heard of single parents?

I am really not liking how many adults are turning into rule enforcers. We work hard to teach kids this isn’t their job at school. Leave it to the teacher.

And if you are so immune compromised that a 5year old without a mask is a huge risk for you, then you should really order online.

This. Kids should not be dragged around into stores during times of Covid.

It has been shocking how many kids I see on a routine basis in stores (non food stores).

Because America.

The rest of the world mandated one family to do the families shopping. The entire family was not dragged around into stores.

Here the law is only over 12 but I have my kids wear masks regardless. They are pretty good about it.

What state is that?

The ignorance is astounding.

Not every family has two adults. When my kids were very young, my husband was active duty military and often deployed. If something like this had happened during that time, I would have no choice but to "drag my kids" into stores with me.
