My seven year old niece goes to bed with an iPad and watches tik tok until she falls asleep/until the late hours. My sister insists it is what kids do and it is harmless.
My boys are only 3 and 4, so perhaps I’m out of touch? Does social media and free reign tablet use start this young? What am I in for? Thanks. |
No, that’s what kids with lazy parents do. |
They will do what you let them do. |
No, at 7 most parents are still regulating screen time. A 13 yo or a 14 yo would do this tho. I let mine because she learned natural consequences (exhaustion the next day, bad performance in school, etc). By 13/14 you need them to learn to self-regulate. A 7 yo cannot do that. |
My kids are allowed to watch vidoes, etc but never late at night (electronics "go to bed" at a certain time at our house) and never free reign on tik tok |
Forget screen time, what about the language and possibly porn exposure?! |
Tik Tok is truly the devil |
My kids are 8, 5, and 3. I have not heard of any of their peers using TikTok. |
Maybe it's what HER kid is doing- but not mine or anyone else's I know, especially the Tik Tok part.
My kid's IPad is set to end screentime at a certain time. |
I have three girls. Absolutely not. |
No, absolutely not. |
Not Tik-tok but youtube videos and cartoons in foreign language. |
+1 and LOL My teens are not allowed to keep their phones in their room at night. It pisses them off for some reason but I'm firm about it. |
I fully support screen time limits for tweens and under, but at some point they need to self-regulate. Are you not going to let them bring their phones to their dorm rooms? Their apartments? |
+1 agreed. You're only going to alienate teenagers by doing this. |
