Unsure if we should switch clubs

Anonymous
My daughter plays for a small club with only2 teams at most year groups. They are in the top ncsl bracket. A few kids are defecting to a much larger club and my daughter expressed interest. So, I arranged a tryout and she was offered a spot on the #2 team. They play in CCL2. Should we make this move? Assuming practice locations are equally located for us. We’ve loved being in the smaller club but also looking at better opportunities to play.

No. Don't do it, unless CCL 2 has changed.

Our experience in CCL 2 was that our kids never once played 8 games in a season and most of the time, they only played 5 or less.

Why? Cancelled games? I dont understand.

Don’t know your daughter’s age or soccer talent/aspirations (if any!j, but my 2 cents: she should play on the team where she will be happiest and have the most fun.

I’m a similar situation but with subtle differences.

My DS team got dismantled and couldn’t not follow his teammates because most of them went to a club out of our commuting range.

DS got offered a spot in an EDP team but is a small club. I don’t have much info on it and not sure if it’s ideal move but I don’t want him to be without soccer.

Bigger club out of our range also offered and will be in CCL2 but we are exploring all angles.

Does anyone have substantial feedback on Leesburg area soccer clubs with CCL/EDP level? Ideally we would like to keep commuting within local reach. Soccer has never been my sport and I fully support my DS choices but I’m not invested enough to know what the best decision would be.

Also, refund policies are a big factor into this decision. Whatever you know is welcome. TIA

But how would she know if the new team fulfills that? It’s our area’s main club so has more “clout” among her friends vs the smaller club that is seen more as a “big club rejects” club. I honestly think that’s a big part of her consideration. I want to support her but I don’t really know much about soccer or the levels etc. I don’t foresee her getting a scholarship or anything like that.

If your DS did not follow his teammates to another club, because it was out of your commuting range, why would you consider a big club, which is also out of your commuting range?

I like edp better than ccl. Ccl is based on club not how good or bad your team is. Edp is based on your team talent. Your coach has say in what division they play in.

How old is your daughter? What are her goals? If she is young and wants to continue development then moving to a bigger club will stretch her. A little concerned about CCL2 but no reason she can't improve and move up to the first team in time.

She is 13. 2007 year group.

Check out VRSC or LFC.

FCV is gone out of the area

LS is now notorious for adding theft and robbery to their core values.

It won't matter anyway because come fall, there will be a peak in hospitalizations and there won't be soccer.

CCL2 is really struggling on the girls side. They do not have enough teams to have a full schedule and the teams you will play are far out. Remember the CCL pretty much becomes a second team league at u13. In that the bigger clubs move their top teams to ECNL or GA and their second team play CCL. The big clubs will dominate and the smaller clubs fight it out for third or fourth place. Girls CCL and CCL2 is not a good league. The league is about Arlington and Loudoun.

“We?” I played club ball and D1, and my parents NEVER would have worded this as their club to switch. What does your DD want?

She wants to switch because a few top players left for big club (top team). She is being offered a #2 team spot. I say we because I’m hesitant to leave the current club which is like a family. I’m worried she will switch and regret it and then I don’t know that we can go back. She wants the prestige of the big club name. I’m worried it won’t be what she thinks it will be. I don’t know much about soccer but I’m going to be driving her all over to practices and games, and paying for it, so I’m part of the decision too!
