Unsure if we should switch clubs

If you live in Alexandria, Alexandria Soccer Association is a very good option. My kids played against Alexandria teams a number of times and Alexandria teams generally try to play good possession based soccer.

for those of us who both like and understand this beautiful game there is absolutely no comparison.

Whoever tells you otherwise is lying through their teeth. We’ve see a lot of that lately due to covid and masks off (no pun intended) in regards to keeping people’s money.

CCL is basically appealing to coaches and their schedules but as a league it’s a joke.

Imagine... you pay 2000 or more in a year and play like 5 games in fall and luckily almost 8 in spring. It’s pathetic.

EDP on the other hand has a genuine system of promotion/relegation which naturally makes talent flow up and less-skilled go down but it is organized well and smoothly. On top of that EDP’s exposure is better than CCL. I’ve met college coaches in EDP high profile matches.

How do I know you ask?

I have coached both.

you might have coached both but you are only telling part of the story. for the $2000 or more for pathetic 13 games you mention how do you calculate my daughters team that plays both CCL and EDP for no additional cost to me as a parent?
Maybe consider the club, what they offer, how well its fit for you kid, the value you get for your money and so on versus take a "coach" perspective on one league being pathetic because a club charges $2000 for 13 games. how that has anything to do with the actual league itself is beyond me.

PP poster from comment above here... this is precisely why we are leaving. On top of the 13 CCL league games, imagine not getting blown out in them (we're honestly not even competitive). As you said, we're looking at the entirety of the club.

Alexandria has at least two boys teams who play EDP. If you're looking for a team who plays EDP, look at SYC. Their top teams, at least the ages my kids play, play in the EDP. CCL is a club format, not based on the ability of the team, which is why EDP works better; however, EDP does have the same club to club format, which is again just like CCL, a mixed bag of teams. Look for a team that plays on your DC level and find a coach you like.

.

I’d rather overpay for competency than overpay for a program falling apart. Again, the only suitable clubs for us in Alexandria is Alexandria.

Yeah, research is reading anyonymous comments online from people with pretty obvious psychological issues. Now we know how we get you know who elected and you know who else nominated. What a bunch of tools. Go see the teams play. That often speaks for itself. Or look online at videos.

Alexandria's top teams play in CCL, their B and C teams play EDP.

Alexandria's top teams play in CCL, their B and C teams play EDP.

This is not accurate. Some of their top teams play in both CCL and EDP. Second teams tend to play NCSL.

At the older ages, Alexandria's top teams play CCL, their lower teams play EDP.

sounds like they're considerate of their players competition, as opposed to staying in CCL despite missing 5-6 teams and getting blown out in the games they are able to field a team

We have players who have been in both leagues and a CCL A team would get beat 10-0 by our A team. It's not based on skill since as PP have stated its 1:1 club format, not pro/rel like the EDP format. We have found that EDP is much better at matching skills between teams. The travel with CCL was also a lot worse (ie. driving to Virginia Beach for one game). It's been a while so this may have changed in recent years.

Oh the anonymous online psychologist troll is back. Alexandria is all about making money off the same kids over and over again. You’ll pay $2k for academy, $800 for futsal, another $3-600 for camps, etc.... They are masters at the up sell because the director personally benefits from selling those extra programs.

A three hour drive to Harford is just as bad as a three hour drive to VA Beach.

Fair. But we generally drove to Maryland areas.
