Unsure if we should switch clubs

No you should not. You should signed her out of any soccer and have a kid that doesn't' have an insane soccer parent.

I’m literally the farthest from an insane soccer parent. I’m trying to learn from the more knowledgeable people if there is a reason to leave our small club and go to a large one. Or if we should stay with what we know. That’s it. As I said, my daughter is not college caliber (not a high level college anyhow), and she is a motivated and pretty good player. I don’t know the name of the position she typically plays.

It's really hard to give honest advise based on which league to join. If you could give current club and potential club, we could give much better advise. That being said, I understand that you do not want to out yourself on an anonomous soccer forum.

I say we because I’m hesitant to leave the current club which is like a family. I’m worried she will switch and regret it and then I don’t know that we can go back. She wants the prestige of the big club name. I’m worried it won’t be what she thinks it will be. I don’t know much about soccer but I’m going to be driving her all over to practices and games, and paying for it, so I’m part of the decision too!

Loudoun's second team for 07s is not in CCL2, they are in CCL. Their top team is in ECNL. Your DD was offered a #3 team spot, if her team is in CCL2. If she feels she needs to leave because of prestige factor, you might want to explain to her that she was offered a spot on C team.

Why do you assume OP is talking about Loudoun?

She should play for the team/club that gives her the most playing time and that is the most fun. A close third is the commute to get her to practices (assuming you will take her or help with car pooling). If she’s on the 2nd/3rd team at the big club, the decision should not be about prestige - that ship has sailed - it should be much more basic. Rough justice, but that’s how it is. My daughter is in a similar boat - size, speed, skill, but just can’t put it together at speed and doesn’t have the aggression or soccer IQ, so she’s always on the 2nd team. So we let her develop at her own pace and make sure she’s on a team that gives her a lot of touches. And she’s just fine.

PP asked for Leesburg area input and referenced an offer for CCL2 from a big club.

OP never mentioned Loudoun, a poster with a “DS” did, but Loudoun 07 girl dad has poor reading comprehension skills.

OP- have you talked to the parents/ kids of that left?

Times have changed. If you want to play college soccer you have to be on an ECNL or GA team by u13. So it matters. It is very rare for a player who is not on an ECNL or GA team make an ECNL or GA after u13. So OP’s dd is not looking to play college soccer.

The CCL2 will give OP’s dd 3-4 games per season vs 8 with other leagues. So basically half the games of other leagues. Yes the league you are in matters. The system is totally broken.

I was a PP who mentioned not enough games. My kids are older now, and have not played for a CCL team for years. EDP is so much better.

But are you saying you had the same experience with CCL2? 3-4 games each season?

You do not want to be in the CCL2. Last year our DD team played 2 games in September and one in October. That was it for the league games.

That is unconscionable. What was the reason? Weather/scheduling?

I love how CCL touts the easy "club centric" scheduling. That was never our experience.
