Why is that a positive development?

Not reassuring as we have some parents who would insist their “future Messi” play even with a fever or a sniffle. Can hear them now say “It doesn’t affect kids” of some crap like that as they quietly send their kids to practice or a game.

I predicted soccer would not return until 2021 and I think that is still true.

No, I still feel that it is all very uncertain.

Games will resume. Here’s why. Pros are starting up again. Once they play for a month or so and no dramatic increase in Covid in the player population, people will cite this and return to play. The real linchpin is school however. If schools stay mostly remote for the fall, then travel soccer may be doomed for a while.

Please note the media coverage of this is somewhat wrong and the underlying study WHO relies upon very very small

We’ll know in 10 days after the massive protests, many of the protesters wore masks. If we don’t get a massive spike from there or Memorial Day Weekend in general, masks may prove to be quite effective in allowing people to be out and more normal.

However, a huge spike could also send us back into quarantine.

If public schools can resume, even with alternate school schedule this Fall, then I think soccer will restart.

I think we will clearly see training back. I know some clubs are looking to start small group training in the next couple of weeks. Whether that progresses to games in late August/September, I have no idea.

My son plays in a different high school sport in DNV. Travel is restarting in 2 weeks out of state.

Many Friends in other states had travel sports this weekend.
