Anyone here use Noom, for more than the free 2 weeks? I’m a couple days into my 2 week trial and I like it but don’t know if it will be worth the cost?
I know I could use MyFitnessPal for free, but I’ve tried that many times in the past and end up abandoning it after a few days because I get tired of logging foods. Hoping the accountability of a “coach” will help....? |
I was into it at first and paid for the longer subscription. I stuck with it about two months and then the articles were not interesting or relatable and the Schtick got old. The value for me was in the first couple free weeks honestly. |
Thanks. Did the “coach” seem to help at all, or were all of the responses sounding automated? So far they sound automated but I haven’t asked questions or anything |
I used the paid version for several months. Never found my coach very useful. My goals and issues just weren't anything she seemed to have context for. I really just needed the tracker stuff, so I use the free version now. |
I am on 11 weeks and Love it. I like the color system to help me choose healthier foods. I am trying to lose a lot of weight after having kids and I have lost 21 lbs so far. I agree the mentor coach isn't great but i think the group and group coach is much more responsive. The articles have all been different still at this point. I think they do a good job of keeping me focused everyday. |
I’m using it. I’m the severely overweight poster from a few other threads. Lost almost nothing the first week, but after three weeks, it has averaged out to almost two pounds a week. I like the red yellow green food groupings. It made me learn more about food even though o thought I already knew a lot. And the little six minutes of learning each day is very simplistic and boring. But somehow going through it daily helps me stay on track. |
I have used it off and on for 8 months. I’ve lost 18lb and I find the meal logging be faster and easier than MFP or LoseIt. It seems simple enough that I do it, but not so simple to be inaccurate.
I basely use the coach and group. My coach seems like a Bot. I didn’t “click” with my first group and over time you get combined with other groups as people drop out. I have also “rewound” my articles a few times and so I feel out of step with the group. I like the articles. The recipes are crap. |
Didn’t find it helpful |
I’m using it to lose the weight I gained after being pregnant (And then miscarrying). I am not overweight to begin with and have a healthy diet, so my next comment is with that background: I find its emphasis on low-calorie dense foods to not work for me (ie lots of veggies and fruits and water-rich foods, along with whole grains and lean meats). Because I can’t eat a lot of healthy fats and stay in my “calorie budget,” I feel like I’m constantly hungry and craving sugar (which happens to me when I don’t eat enough fat). I do like the tracking function though — which has made me more aware of my eating. I also like the psych tips. |
Thanks for all the responses! I also find I’m struggling to not be starving with the red/yellow/ green system. I need more meat, apparently, to stay full! But the tracking so far has been less of a PITA than MFP, so maybe I’ll pay for one month after the trial is up or something. |
PP here. If you decide to pay, then on the last day of the trial, go through the motions of canceling, and Noom will offer you a discounted monthly rate before the cancel is complete to get you to stay. |
Me again. Over the past three weeks, I have lost 2.3 pounds a week on average. I have never lost more than 1.5 pounds a week, so for now I'm hooked. |
I’ve been doing Noom for two months now and love it. The psych tricks have changed my relationship with food. I changed my weight loss setting from cheetah to a couple of notches above turtle and I’ve been happy with the amount of calories (also throw in a long walk a day which adds to the available categories, and do intermittent fasting). I feel like I could be happy following the Noom lifestyle indefinitely. Lost 16 pounds so far, want to lose 10 more. |
I thought the free trial was so underwhelming. Coach was unresponsive, the “group” was unhelpful, and the tracker was glitchy (though this was closer to when Noom started, so it’s likely better now). From my friends who have used Noom, those that need to lose a lot of weight 50+ tend to have more success than those who need to loses 10-15lbs. |
