| On their facebook page, in the comments, people are posting about a racial incident that they feel was not handled appropriately. Does anyone know about this incident? I'm concerned that people commenting feel that it was not addressed by the club. |
| Potomac Soccer has completed ignored the incidents as well |
Really? |
| But what were the Alexandria incidents? The comments on the facebook page all use the name of a person, which I don't want to repeat to respect the person's privacy. I'm just concerned about the possibility that my child's club is allowing racist behavior to go unchecked and want to get a better understanding of what happened. |

As in the cyclist thread, posts with names will be removed. Not sure initials are allowed either. |
| Ive witnessed Team America FC both players and parents use some racial slurs in both Spanish and English referring to black and white youth players. Its disgusting that its never confronted or corrected. |
Understood, and that makes sense. Even if it would not have been removed, I would not use the person's name because they were allegedly the victim of an incident and that seems like a wrong thing to do. |
Yeah as a parent I emailed to ask what they thought and haven’t gotten a response. |

This was discussed on a different thread earlier. To be honest, I'm not quite sure what happened but this is what I saw being discussed:
1. A coach (who is black) for an opposing team claims to have been called a racial pejorative (I believe it was 'monkey' or something like that) at a futsal tournament hosted by Alexandria Soccer in DC (I believe the DC Armory) 2. The person who was alleged to have used the pejorative is a coach who coached for Alexandria Now here's where it gets dicey: both 'sides' have supporters supporting their side. So, the coach (who is black) who has alleged to have been called the pejorative has people saying "yes I heard it as well"; the coach/official who is alleged to have said it has people saying "no, I was there and I didn't hear anything". I'm not with either club, please, for the love of God, don't claim that I'm some paid coach or official from Alexandria lol |

I was there. it was a Futsal tournament at the DC armory and what has been stated in this very short thread is already not correct. Please take time to get the story correct before you start spreading incorrect statements.
What was said by a frustrated DC Hyper coach/parents is that Alexandria parents said racists comments. Keep in mind that Alexandria futsal team is very diverse with mostly hispanic players. DC Hyper was upset that their style of play was incurring foul calls against them and the coach lost his mind. the parents followed suit. The coach pulled his team off the court in an outburst. Subsequently some DC Hyper parents said they heard parents saying racists comments to their players. The same players that told the ref to F off and walked up to him and flipped him off. As you can tell a lot went on but it wasnt what is being portrayed as a coach getting called a name. I didnt hear any racist comments. doesnt mean it didnt happen but it would mean a team with mostly minority players and their parents were slinging racial comments. You be the judge |
Who cares about them as long as its not a black person then move on |
The alexandria incident happened months ago. |
Question: what style of play was incurring fouls? Was is 'setting picks'? An illegal play in which an offensive player attempts to impede the progress of a downfield defender in order to allow a teammate to get open for a pass. Which team was upset and which was using 'illegal' style of play. Curious because we ran into similar issues. |
| AT NO POINT IS IT OK TO USE RACIAL SLURS... Even if the players were cursing flipping the finger etc. although both are wrong The racial slurs are not ok in any argument. to call someone a MF or F off isn't cool but its a direct insult based off off a single person not based off of race religion or ethnicity . |
DC Hyper plays a very agressive brand of futsal. Not saying its right or wrong. it is one they feel is required to teach the kids in order to play internationally. They charge a lot, slide tackle and are very physical. As a result they were warned repeatedly by the referee and ultimately it escalated as they continued with the same style. DC Hyper blames its on bad ref calls and the way it is played here in the USA. If you want to know more you can go back in time to their instagram and social media postings. its all there. I know their coach quite well. He is a good guy but he lost his cool and the cops had to be called. DC Hyper lost the game as they forfeited. Interestingly the same two clubs met in Regionals in Atlantic City a month later. Same coaches and all. End result was the same. Alexandria won and the coach lost his mind. This time he didnt get thrown out but after the final whistle was blown he stormed the refs table and so forth. This is all well documented in an earlier thread somewhere on this site. |
