I am afraid it is going to take a massive revolt by people who live in these cities if any changes are going to happen.

So all the young men with gang tattoos from El Salvador coming to the US seeking asylum are really not who we want coming. El Salvador is now a very safe country so almost no one should be getting asylum from there.

+100 to both of you. We've seen the mayors of NYC and Chicago finally get real and acknowledge how incredibly damaging a huge influx of illegal immigrants is to U.S. citizens (thank you, Gov. Abbott, for making sure they got the point). And we did see Chicago residents absolutely furious about this. I don't know if NYC residents have spoken up yet, but unless they want this to be the new normal, they'd better get busy and STOP voting for idiot Democrats who allow this to happen.

Completely agree. And most of these migrants are showing up with the border without any kind of ID at all - how on earth can they be vetted? It truly is insane. We have no idea who we're letting into the country. As for these ahole thugs, they don't deserve to be locked up in our jails at our expense. There should be buses at the ready, to return them to their home countries where they can face whatever justice awaits them there. We shouldn't be paying a dime for them.

When I was in Aruba I had several lengthy conversations with locals—ranging from resort staff to cab drivers and white collar professionals—and they always brought up immigration and the Venezuelan gang issue. They chase after migrants who come via boat, it makes the local news, and everyone goes on alert to find them, lock them up, and quickly deport them. It’s something a tourist notices if you watch the news or listen to the radio. Why? Because the gangs bring crime and violence.

Other Caribbean islands take a similar stance.

Ask your Latino friends if they have any thoughts on Venezuelan migrants. It’s eye opening.

And I say all this as a lefty who supports asylum. Legitimate asylum. But I’m grappling with the reality of crimes linked to Venezuelan gangs in the US. This one nyc incident isn’t the only one.

He didn't kill the woman in Times Square. He shot her in the leg.
