Elrich plan for MoCo

So unless I misheard, he said he both is ramping up testing and expecting positive case #s to go down. How is that possible? Isn't that exactly why Hogan isn't using positive results as a metric?

Yup. It's very wrong. Also, I have no clue how MoCo is going to achieve 5% testing when MD is struggling to get to 3%.

In case it's helpful, since I know people have been asking about hospital uses in MoCo (and Gayles said hospitalizations in the county have to go down):

According to the hospital alert system (https://www.miemssalert.com/chats/Default.aspx?hdRegion=5&hdReportRegion=V&hdReport=Hospital%20Summary%20Report), since March 7th, we have seen three hospitals show the most time in an alert status where ICU beds have been full:

Holy Cross Silver Spring -- 52% of the time
White Oak -- 44% of the time
Holy Cross Germantown -- 22% of the time

The next highest is Shady Grove at 8%. Everywhere else is lower than that.

So my requests about hospitalizations would be:

1. Publish the county-level numbers, so we can see the trend.

2. Concentrate resources on the 2-3 hospitals that have clearly seen WAY more surge than anywhere else in the county.

He's using the right metrics. I'm glad to hear that he is.

He's doing the right thing even though it's hard. What's right isn't always popular and that's why I like him. Elrich is 70 he's not trying to run for governor or build his resume. He's just trying to do the right thing no matter the political cost.
And he looks great, too. He's lost a ton of weight.

You realize cases will go up as testing does, right?

So MoCo is looking at a VERY long time under a stay at home order.

Did he say how long the county’s stay at home will be in effect?

It's possible because SIP, testing, tracing and isolating work.

Hogan isn't using decreasing cases as a metric because he's caving on this.

There is no vaccine so Covid will have to go through the entire county before he lifts the order.

Nope. Unlike PG county--which has more cases and deaths per capita--we have no end date. I'll note DC and NoVA have end dates.

Well, we know Elrich doesn't care about business, so why should he care if MoCo's economy implodes?

I realize that cases go down when cases go down. You realize that too.

Do you even understand the economic and societal implications of waiting for the number of positive tests to go down with massively ramped up testing capacity? Do you know how this works?

Did you hear him say "oh yeah, sucks that some people don't have jobs. I mean I want to go to a restaurant too..."

Does Montgomery County have their own tests?
