Sidwell football article in post....what are the parents saying?

Why did the reporter call the team the Quakers? Sounds kind of snarky.

That's the team name; the joke (inside and outside) is that they're "the fightin' Quakers".

A lot of Sidwell Friends parents would rather just get rid of the football program altogether.

The University of Pennsylvania calls its teams the same thing

Full ride football scholarships would likely be available to many of the players, but obviously not appealing to Sidwell friends students. Academics are always first.

Have you SEEN this team? If so, you would not make that statement.

The lines are enormous and many of those kids are still growing. Look like a college team.

You can't be serious. This team is mediocre and the AD scheduled a bunch of easy teams.

Easy teams? Fredericksburg Christian's football team recruits and sends kids to major college programs.

You are delusional. FC is a mediocre program that has a few good kids. They beat Sidwell by 19 and SSSAS by only 7. SSSAS is an awful team that lost to Bullis by 28 points and 35 points to Landon.

Get a grip.

Why do SFS fans feel they have to defend their teams accomplishments constantly? Just ignore the detractors.

Yes. Yes. Yes. This is an ancient thread that keeps coming back. No point in responding. It's a good football team. Don't worry about anonymous snark. Totally pointless to respond.

Sidwell is a mediocre football team this year, which is a huge upgrade over previous years. Saying it's a good team is laughable.

Maret and Potomac would disagree with you.

Maret and Potomac have been decent programs (within the context of MAC football). Both are horrible this year. Sidwell is probably going to win the MAC this year, which should tell you all you need to know about the MAC.

At the end of the day, it's only lost game this year. It's a good team relative to its competition. That's all Sidwell should care about. It doesn't play DeMatha and it shouldn't. Sadly somebody out there is a little too obsessed with throwing the team under the bus.
At the end of the day, this is just another high school football team. It's doing well now. Maybe it won't in a year or two. Then it might get better again. Then, after than, it might stuggle. Then after a few years, it will do well again....etc..etc.

The football team has definitely improved since the pedophile teacher was removed from Sidwell.

And the stock market has done worse since Joan Rivers died. What's your point?
