Trump's Madison Square Garden rally

I’ve watched every roast - going back to Trump’s and even earlier. He didn’t make fun of “all races and genders” at that rally and it was a really stupid choice to have a roast comic there in the first place. And if it’s true that they didn’t read his routine beforehand like they’re trying to make us believe, that’s gross incompetence. If they read it beforehand and approved it that’s worse.

It's the same logic that got them JD Vance at the VP nominee. What one very weird and offputting subset of men is super into.

His reaction to it only came after the stink got on him. That's the only time any of these a-holes care, when the stink lands on them. I hope it's too little, too late.

I think it's too late and yeah they only bothered to distance themselves from the comedian's comments, not the hate comments from Tucker, the guy calling Harris the devil, the comments making fun of Jews and Arabs or Trump's own "enemy within" comments. Trump wanted to say the quiet part out loud and his rally was a celebration of that. If he's elected there will be more Charlottesville rallies and more Proud Boys and more disinformation and hate. Trump and everything he stands for is irredeemable.

Trump spoke hours after these guys; there was plenty of opportunity for him to distance himself during his rambling speech. It only became a problem after they were called out.

WTAF?

I don't get GOP being annoyed at the "bullseye" comment from Biden.... But this is ok??

They never really cared about the bullseye comment or anything else. They just want to kill us Democrats. Fun, right?

Remember it was two democrats that tried to assassinate trump? I didn't forget!

You lie about everything.

So people marinated in hate for hours in that arena. That Kamala is the antichrist, is Samoan or Malaysian or whatever, is managed by pimps; Puerto Rico is a floating island of garbage, go away migrants. Says a lot about Trump supporters.

Remember when Trump threw his VP under a bus, then openly prompted his followers to invade the capitol which they did while chanting "Hang Mike Pence!" and also armed with guns, stun guns, knives, batons, baseball bats, axes, and chemical sprays (bear spray per an MPD friend who was there that day) to use against Capitol Police and MPD.

Oh, and that same day, another one of his nut job followers parked a truck of bombs two blocks from the Capitol?

I didn't forget!

It was not savvy politically to say, but Hillary was never wrong about the deplorables.

I'm just getting caught up on this rally and OMG this is the worst possible display they could have put on just days before the election. Worst closing message ever!

They really thought it was going to be well received. It must look like Downfall in their bunker.

Distance? If he does, the response will be even “Trump admits it was horrifying and not funny!” “It’s too late!” “The damage is done”. What’s the point?

It's only OK if white people make white babies. Great Replacement Theory: white, protestant America will be replaced by brown people who worship differently. This fear is what spurs them to say and do horrible things.

Which part? The saying Latinos breed too much, the watermelon and Black person joke, the classic antisemitism, the classic islamophobia… maybe the suggestion that our VP is a prostitute? Maybe the command to murder all the Democrats? It’s hard to know which of the many things that were said were the worst. I’m probably missing a bunch.
