I don’t know what the Republicans in Congress are going to do, but the Democrats there need to put all of their weight behind the measures in both houses to cancel the “national emergency” that allowed Trump the leeway to do this and act like it can pass and survive a veto. Get every goddamn one of them on the record supporting this nightmare.

They can’t just stop the tariffs. The damage is done. At this point if they don’t 25th amendment Trump and Vance it doesn’t matter. The only way to restore global trust and friendship is to get rid of them and Mike Johnson.

I like the idea someone had here yesterday to install a government with Lincoln party republicans and Obama-type Dems, until we see what happens in 2028.

They have been...they need the House to be in session (Johnson adjourned last tuesday) and they need a few GOP senators to go along with it.

The Stellantis and Whirlpool layoffs should be in the FAFO thread. I’m sure the majority of those workers voted for the Orangeman and his tariffs.

Stellantis was already in serious trouble anyways, so this all certainly doesn’t help. The one guy I know that’s engineering for stellantis is annoying about being conservative. He and his wife actually - they both work for stellantis as engineers. Maybe they will get canned and learn something.

The reputational and geopolitical damage can't be undone but the economic damage can be minimized and contained. Congress has the power to stop this any time they want.

And the very real thing is …in December the economy and job markets were strong and people were making major purchases again.

It was handed to him with a now on top and he dismantled/destroyed it in less than 2 months.
