I do believe what Oher said in his filing. I don’t agree he has any winning claims. He says he always knew they didn’t legally adopt him. He says they have profited on their story which involves him (legal and doesn’t entitle him to squat). He says they conservatorship is still in place but offers no evidence that the Touhys used it to take money from him. In summary, even in his own words, the Touhys are clearly at an advantage legally. |
Go back and read the terms of the conservatorship. They can enter into contract on his behalf at their sole discretion. Clearly this would be inclusive of using his NIL. What I want to know: why did the Touhy’s break the law every year by not updating the court on the status of the conservatorship? |
Lies are protected by 1A and it isn’t a defamatory claim so, no. You’re just wrong. |
Do you not understand what a conservatorship is? This is how the Tuohys were able to use Michael Oher's NIL while he was still playing at Ole Miss. Prior to the new NIL rules an NCAA athlete could not profit from their NIL so the conservatorship was the work around for the book and movie deal. He graduated Ole Miss in spring of 2009 but the movie deal was made in 2006 and released Nov 2009. |
None of the speaking engagements require a contract with Oher so that has nothing to do with NIL. If there’s some car dealership with his face plastered on it that is paying the conservatorship and the Touhys are taking that cash, fine. But let’s see the evidence that the right to enter into contracts matters. I’m also completely underwhelmed by the unfiled paperwork. That’s hardly unusual when a trust, conservatorship, corporation, estate, etc has gone defunct. It’s not the smoking gun you seem to think. |
But it hasn’t been used since that time. Nothing they have done since the movie involves his NIL in the sense of him needing to sign away rights. |
Ohhhhh. That would be interesting. I wonder if the irs is wondering also ? |
Again he is under a conservatorship. His NIL rights were already signed away to the Tuohys since 2004. LA Tuohy goes on speaking tours saying she is the adoptive mother of Michael Oher and the mother from the Blind Side. She's definitely using his NIL which is why the links to her speaking fees has been scrubbed. He is rightfully asking her to stop calling herself his adoptive mother when she is not. |
There's an income limit. It's currently $263,000 and was likely much lower back in 2004. They routinely claim to be very independently wealthy and likely exceeded it and wouldn't be eligible to claim it. |
Funny the tuohys must not have good counsel. Here they are saying to the press they are going to end the conservatorship. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2023/08/17/blind-side-tuohys-intend-to-end-michael-oher-conservatorship/70608928007/ |
LEIGH ANNE TUOHY
Author Inspiration for Sandra Bullock's Character in "The Blind Side" Adoptive Mother of Michael Oher Fee Range: $50,000 - $100,000 Topics: Famous Celebrity Moms, Top Motivational Speakers, NYT Best Selling Authors https://www.celebrityspeakersbureau.com/talent/leigh-anne-tuohy/ She doesn't even mention her actual children. What a fraud. |
From the article referenced above
“Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy intend to end their conservatorship for Michael Oher, lawyers for the couple said during a news conference Wednesday. “ “ Legal experts have said there is no basis for the conservatorship to exist. Sean Tuohy and the couple’s attorneys have said this week that the conservatorship was a means of protection for Oher to attend Ole Miss, the couple’s alma mater, and that the maneuver would make him part of the family. ” |
That has become a scandal in its own right in Tennessee. Lots of speculation about their clout and corruption in that it was never noticed. |
The press this has gotten is going to end their abuse of his story/name. No one is going to pay or support them given the stink that surrounds them now. |
This situation stinks so bad people want Sandra to give her Oscar back. Everyone involved has been tainted. I hope the Tuohys retire from public life completely but they are so narcissistic they won't. |
