Agree that the "jack is amazing" storyline is getting old and boring. Seriously, can he do no wrong? :eyeroll:

The constant grand romantic gestures by all the men on this show is getting a bit much.

Can I just say, the old apartment gesture was a bit much.

Was it clean? If not. Did he scrub the bathroom tile floors?
What about cleaning up the rose petals and lights? Should have shown them cleaning it up together at the end!

I thought the same thing about how dirty the bathroom probably was. Yuck

Same here! Sitting on the bathroom floor, putting the wine glass down right by the toilet - ugh!!

Kevin always makes me laugh. This past episode, it was when he confessed to Sophie that he was Soo Yun Lee on FB. Too funny.

I loved that he pointed out how selfish Kate is to him. FINALLY!

This is true too. He's constantly doing nice things for Kate and she really hasn't reciprocated. I was also wondering why Toby doesn't just enroll in the fat camp too. It seems like he would benefit as well. Also - what does he do for a living??? I don't think they've ever addressed that.

Furthermore, she really treats him like a buddy more than a romantic partner. I felt very disconnected from all the storylines this week, with the exception of Kevin's. He has a knack for making stalker-ish behavior seem to come from a good-hearted place.

I wonder if they are building jack up as the hero but he ends up making some bad choices. The show runners have hinted at that a little in a couple of interviews.

^^i think the same thing. Jack has to take an epic fall somehow. Otherwise it's all too nauseating.

^^
Maybe something related to his dad. He borrowed that money from him from the house and I can only assume that has to come with some strings.

I think jack is going to show a major jealous side this week. That's consistent with the good aspects of his character (loyal to a fault, etc).

I also liked the Facebook friend confession, but thought it weird that he wouldn't have picked a more ordinary name. I have one Facebook friend that is someone I don't actually know and it's because her name was vaguely similar to someone I went to HS with, so I clicked okay. Much later I realized she is about a decade older than I am so I did not actually go to HS with her.

Also, the Greatness of Jack is starting to get a little much.

I think the point is to make it that much harder on the audience when he does eventually die. Which we know will happen. And I spent all last night hoping it wasn't this episode since they showed Kate as an obvious teenager when they were going out to dinner with Sheely and Miguel

Me too. I'm still thinking about the 9/11 connection that a pp mentioned and thought Jack was taking her to NYC.

What 9/11 connection?

^^ in one of the earlier pages, someone suggested that Jack dies in 9/11, which would make the kids 21 at the age of his death. We won't know until next season, if even, how he died

That theory makes zero sense. 9/11 is not the only thing that happened in New York in the 2000s.

The kids were much younger than that in the funeral scene.

Randall is my favorite character. He's cool in a nerdy sort of way.

Okay, I think I missed an episode, but can't find it on On Demand and have been very faithful about recording each episode. Only missed one where it was pushed back an hour (but then realized from reading on here that it was a repeat anyway??)

Can someone help me figure out which episode I missed? here are the parts that seem to be missing:

* Mandy Moore all of a sudden is singing in the club? Don't know how that started or how it happened.
* Randall's "nervous break down." In last night's episode they showed "previously on this is us" and had a clip of Randall's wife talking to his bio father explaining about his nervous breakdown when she was pregnant. I don't remember that in any previous episode???
* Kevin and Sophie now being a couple. I saw the episode where they meet and she tells him she's dating someone. Next thing I know, (in last night's episode) she's calling him wishing him luck on his play and telling him it would be awkward for the family seeing them dating again.

That's all I can think of, but I think there were other things where the story line just skipped ahead for me. Anyone know if these things were covered and in what episode?

There was an episode a while back where she started singing in a band again.
I do not remember Remember Randall's wife ever saying he has previously had a nervous break down.
Kevin and Sophie... in the last episode she showed up at the diner the next day so I took that to mean that she was going to give him a change. Either ending her current relationship or dating 2 guys at once, bachelorette style..
