Agreed. We are untouched and a pretty urban community. I’m sure those further out will take some time to dig out tomorrow and Wednesday. Def won’t be ready for kids/buses

WTF? No, school will be open on Wednesday. All the main roads are clear now, the neighborhood roads will be cleared tomorrow.

My money is on a two-hr delay for Wednesday.

Nah closed on Wednesday, will also close on Thursday so kids can watch coverage of Carter’s funeral.

The county already said we aren’t closed Thursday.

Fcps won't be closed for the funeral Thursday

Fcps will be closed on Thursday because of "ice" in Clifton and Herndon, as a pretense for giving a day off for the funeral

I live in Herndon, there is no ice, our neighborhood roads have been plowed.

I think it's really unfair that we have to stay home because people choose to live in but*ck nowhere. We really need to separate the county into separate zones.

Springfield has unplowed roads and it’s not in “nowhere”.

It’s not going to get above 30F until Saturday at the earliest, and will be 20f or below every night. Are you aware of what happens to plowed roads when it’s that temperature, or do you get your weather information from RFK Jr?

DP. I live on a cul de sac that seldom gets plowed. It's been plowed today. And, yes, it will likely ice over some tomorrow, but, I would plan on Wednesday--with a delay. Roads can be treated.

I think Wednesday is a toss up...def a delay but could be a closing. Enjoy the snow, cocoa, and games with your kids. Or stomp your feet and be angry about it.

Ok, I think being off today and tomorrow is the right call because this area doesn’t handle snow well, let’s be honest. But no one who is stressed about the weather closures is “enjoying snow, cocoa, and games with the kids.” They’re trying to work, as well as manage their kids at home after a very long 2 week break, and it’s stressful. Shades of 2020-2021. Let’s try to just get through this. If the second wave of snow tonight doesn’t drop too much and if it doesn’t drag on too long into Tuesday morning, I’m thinking positive thoughts for school on Weds with a probable 2 hour delay. I’ve been out shoveling and snowblowing all day and the snow is fairly dry/powdery and removal hasn’t been too difficult.

LOL.....I need popcorn to read your rant-so funny and dramatic. Next time use all CAPS like some of your teary foot stomping friends.

I think there’s one person responding to every post on here which is why the thread gained 4 pages of low quality replies in a matter of minutes. Maybe go spend some time with your family!!!!!111 why do you hate being a parent?!?!,!,!!!!

I just got on I can't make it through the first 45 pages but that last five.... the responses are so freaking funny! It's probably that Navy mom she was funny too.

Nah it’s you responding to yourself. PP is spot on. No one can stand being around you and you weren’t important enough to be working today. So here you sit. Loser.

Wow....you have some serious issues. It's snow seek help. Your poor kids.

The person who needs help is the one sitting on here trolling. It’s really pathetic that a grown adult thinks that’s a good use of their time.

And here you are AGAIN.

Therapy. Get some.

I'm sorry the real world doesn't offer you enough of a self esteem boost that you have to come on a message board and project some false sense of superiority over people who don't fully agree with all of your insignificant opinions.

No plow in our neighborhood which school buses need to access and be able to back up and turn in a tight space. Our main road is clear but it isn’t safe for drivers. I lived in Alaska and somewhat get it but unless the complainers want to drive a school bus on these roads maybe they should shut it.

It only took 56 pages for someone to suggest dividing the county.
Every s I n g l e year this is brought up. FCPS has studied/tried to work it out for years. There are too many cross county programs for them to do this. It won’t happen.

I believe it would require a change in the laws of VA.

They are capable of closing certain schools if needed. The wind storm in 2018 knocked out power to some schools and areas for much longer than others. It rolled in on a Friday and FCPS was closed on Friday, open on Monday except for the 20 or so schools that still didn’t have power. These schools were scattered throughout the county, not all in one area.

DP. I don't think anyone (or hardly anyone) is complaining about schools being closed. I think some people are taking issue with the smug "you hate your kids" responses that others love to use anytime the subject of school closures comes up. Like who cares if someone is flustered about extra days of winter break and worried that it could go all week? How does that affect your life at all? If you're being an a-hole just for the sake of it, expect someone to call you on it. (I don't mean you specifically, but the people who think they're funny with the snarky replies)

PP here. I was referencing splitting the county into separate districts.

Someone said people living in the middle of nowhere. I literally live at the intersection of two major roads in a largely populated area. I know we are not the only unplowed neighborhood. We are likely being ignored so the big roads get focus. How people miss this blows my mind.

I used to freak out over snow days when my kids were younger as they were so much work so I get it a bit. I am shocked people are ignoring the big picture.

The snow is still coming down now. A plow came through our neighborhood at 7:30 am today but haven’t seen one since. The roads are a mess. No school Wednesday either.

Yep no school Wednesday . This snow dump tonight has set us back.

Yeah I’m starting to think that too but Reid may push for it!

Our street in Falls Church has not been touched by a plow.

We saw a plow make a single pass this morning. It didn’t do a very good job. I don’t know why they only make one pass leaving a single lane 12’ out from the curb but that happens during every storm.

That’s what I’m worried about. My neighborhood is not plowed and there are so many cars parked on both sides of all of our narrow streets. The shoveled sidewalks are now icy and slick too.

That’s why they only do one pass?
