The Golden Bachelor

I like her, just find her quite boring. I noticed the other ladies don’t seem to interact with her posts, which is telling I think.

Now April's face- lots of work and painful to look at plus she seems like a nutter.

I don't think any of the women are funny/interesting enough to carry a Bachelorette.... but

I'd totally watch a buddy show with Sandra and Susan managing their gas issues as as they travel/eat/shag their way across the US. Like BiP combined with Diners DriveIns and Dives.

Literally the only part of Joan's face that moves is her lower lip...and that's because it's connected to her jaw that moves the lower lip ip and down. She has no movement anywhere else. Not on the sides of her mouth, not the upper lop, not the cherks, not the forehead.

She must have bought the full face botox package. It's a shame because she seems nice enough and young-ish. But her face is dead.

I don’t think Botox makes the mouth look that weird and stretched out. I think facelift plus overdoing peels.

It looks so uncomfortable. Like hard work. Almost a disability. Can you imagine trying to speak but your mouth and face won’t move? I wonder what she thinks/sees when she watches herself on tv?

I think we may see more on Theresa's personality/life in the upcoming shows. So, keep an open mind.

I would love to see her pull back her hair or part it on the side, and show some zest and spunky personality. So far, she's only been shown as a demure, totally-into-Gerry personality. Surely there is more to her than just being ga-ga for Gerry! We need to see something about her life/personality outside of the show.

I think that's what people on this thread are reacting to -- (1) bad hair, and (2) absence of an independent/strong/funny personal story.

Let's see what the producers show us.

Agree that Joan will be the Golden Bachelorette. She is beautiful and yes a little boring, but she and Nancy have the most general appeal. Susan is too Jersey for many people’s taste. Ellen has that horrible accent that is hard to listen to. Sandra is too vulgar.

If Gerry is, at heart, at a time in life where he wants to keep it simple, then Faith and Leslie are not going to be the right "speed" for him. Theresa might be more on that speed level.

That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with Faith, or Leslie or Theresa or Gerry. It's just a matter of finding someone who wants to live life at the same pace as you.

Yes, good point. Although I find Theresa quite boring compared to the other two, maybe that’s better suited to him at this stage in his life.

I don't know what "securities professional" means, but it suggests Teresa is at least somewhat smart. She's 70, so she's probably not on the trading floor, but maybe she owns a brokerage or day trades, who knows. I did find Theresa pretty disingenuous during the whole Kathy spat. But it's probably going to be Teresa.

I just can't see Leslie and Gerry together--she's the wrong "speed" as you say. Also I'm not sure what they talk about besides ATV rides and Leslie's life story. Finding a steady man is great, but you need something more to do/talk about in your daily life. Maybe we just don't see that deeper connection happening.

He should have kept Ellen.

Does anybody else have their fingers crossed for Joan coming back? The producers extended the season from 8 to 9 episodes.

Interesting!! I had forgotten about her.

She seemed like a quality/together person.

(I was appalled by the woman who missed her daughter’s wedding to be on a realty TV show!)

Agreed. Who would miss a child’s wedding to be on tv? She wasn’t reading the room well either. He wasn't that in to her. Didn’t he pick her for a one on one date that was never shown? Did I miss it?

How do you know about the missed wedding but can't remember the one-on-one date?

I am not riveted to the tv the entire episode. I saw her get picked and didn’t see any details of the date or they were super brief.

But they called the daughter to congratulate her on her nuptials ON the one-on-one date.

No, it was during a group date. During all of the group dates, Gerry has taken a little one-on-one time with each woman. Sandra never had a one-on-one date.

I don't care about her hair, I agree she has no personality other than "I'm desperate for a man"

I think almost any of them would be a better GB than Joan.
Edith is gorgeous. April is sexy and quirky. Natascha is hilarious.
I can see Susan being too Jersey and Sandra being too vulgar, though they're both confident and funny. Ellen would be lovely but I think casting would be very difficult because she gives off an older vibe than the rest of them.
If they're going for pleasant and kind of bland white lady, they might as well go with Nancy, whose face moves normally and who seems very warm and sweet.

Ultimately though, Gerry is going to pick Theresa, which sets Leslie up to be the GB. They'll be able to lower the age range for men because she's one of the youngest women and hot. Faith would also be fine but she's very limited by the dead horse thing.

I hate to tell you though that the producers have said that they're not planning to do any more "golden" versions of the show.

We did see more from Theresa but it was only during the first and second episodes. After that, she was really only shown in reference to the drama with Kathy.
But she certainly showed zest and spunk at the beginning, and she did say at one point that she wasn't sure how she felt about Gary and wanted to get to know him.

She was definitely an early favorite and the producers I think have deliberately shown less of her to make her winning more of a surprise.

People have short memories and always seem to need to dislike someone.

I'm pretty sure all the other women her age were gone sooner. It would make sense that the younger ones would be tighter. It would also make sense for the others to engage with her less if she was the winner and they were trying to avoid spoiling things.

Let’s be honest here. None them are hot, gorgeous, beautiful. Somewhat attractive? Sure! Gerry-Gary far exceeds this group of women. That’s why he’s always tearing up. He is very handsome and polished. Edith is lovely, very pretty, and graceful. Casting really blew it!

Just watched Hometowns episde and I do think Leslie is a better fit for Gary. Easier connection with family, less pressure. Unless producers are trying to trip viewers up. I've never watched the Bachelor before, so don't know the game.

I've been on the Leslie train but after watching the promo footage I now think it's Theresa. Looks like Gerry's daughters will be skeptical of Leslie (is she really all in?) He said in an interview his daughters' feedback was important and that they mirrored concerns he had. I think he will pick Theresa because he's confident she will be all in, adore and be committed to him etc. I still see the passion with Leslie, but it is true Theresa is the more practical choice in most respects.

Totally agree.

This would be amazing. Both very good looking, but in different ways, and with different but complementary personalities. Leslie more bubbly and warm, Joan more reserved and thoughtful.
